On December 19, 1981 at the Playboy Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, WBC light heavyweight champion Matthew Saad Muhammad (nee Matthew Franklin), from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, defended his crown against Dwight Muhammad Qawi (nee Dwight Braxton), originally from Baltimore, Maryland. This was the first of two fights between these exemplary warriors. The champion was 31-3-2 going in. The challenger was 15-1-1. The fight was scheduled for 15 rounds…

I think the brutal fights that Matthew Saad Muhammad had before this fight took a huge toll on him. He was always in big punch-a-thon fights. But, I didn't take nothing away from Dwight Braxton that day. He was terrific! :TU:

1, terribly sad fights for me. I'd never consider rewatching those ass whippings.

Braxtons one of my favourites. I gave it an 8. I can understand why you'd not enjoy them.

Dwight is the man, but not sure he could have take Saad at his best.
