He seems to be as good as they get. Tremendous. Would Ward fight him? Kovalev can't beat him.

Very heavy handed but I'd imagine someone like Chilemba would give him problems, seems a bit in love with his power IMO, doesn't always show the skills expected from a world amateur champ and does tend to plod for spells but as I said his power is always there

he beat kovalev in the amateurs, he is arguably the strongest puncher at lh, physicly one of the strongest, when it is all said and done he could end up being recognized as the best light heavyweight in the world.

There's no plodding going on... He would knock Chilemba out cold with little effort... Tyson had over 30 pro fights this far into his career, but Al Haymon is just not lining up any fights for Beterbiev.. AB is dying on the vine.. But if he DID get opportunities, he destroys Ward and beats him worse than Kovalev did.

It'd be fair to say that he's at least somewhat world class. But whether he is equal to Eleider Alvarez or way better than Ward is not something that you can be sure of until he faces appropriate opposition. And it's like... ever since his win against Cloud, he's been in a position where he should be fighting top 25 opponents every fight. But he's about to fight his 4th opponent outside the top 30 in the post-Cloud era (cue some Beterbiev fanboy who overrates Page, Johnson, Maderna, and Prieto). 1 opponent inside the top 30, 4 outside the top 30. His matchmakers are not doing a very good job of helping him reach his earning potential.

When it comes to these former Soviet amateur stars like Golovkin, Beterbiev, and Usyk who claim to be infinitely good, but infinitely avoided, I prescribe 3-4 fights per year, with at least 3 of them against opponents in the top 25. Offer opponents a bigger share of the purse than they ought to deserve, so that they'll be willing to make the fight. Spend more on marketing your fights than you expect to recoup in the short-term. In the long-term, this will all snowball and start making you plenty of money.

Looks like there s no line in front of the office. Who in the top 20 will risk a fight to Beterbiev. Haymon should drop Stevenson and put money behind Arthur. He ll be gaining a lot more within a year. The crowd will pay for him not for Adonis

He did refuse to fight Kovalev in Russia before his injury.

He's the real deal, but like Kal yafi he's been derailed by injury just as he was about to step up.. Kal obviously has managed to come back and win a world title and I'm more than confident beterbiev will do the same.

He has his detractors of course, those who don't tend to watch the actual boxing choosing to tear through fighters resumes on boxrec instead.

If you watch him fight and spar you can see how good he is.

Very good amateur background. Heavy hands. Still has a lot of prove in the professional ranks. He's sustained a lot of injuries early in his career and he's fought a bunch of tomato cans.

He was a beast before the surgery.

Might be the #1 light heavy in a few years, but its hard to tell as the division has a lot of talent

Ok, I didn't know that.
It was little stupid from me to claim Kovalev can't beat him. Beterbiev hasn't fought anybody good yet.
Hope his shoulder is OK now and they can fight soon.

Easily, one of the top 5 hardest punchers p4p. Kudryashov and Gassiev only ones I have to debate in my head as to who hits as hard as Beterbiev. Very good fighter, and he has the amateur background.

Al Haymon and GYM don't have a very good relationship with Main Events and HBO.

At one point in time, HBO banned Haymon's fighters from their network and the Kathy Duva-managed Main Events filed lawsuits against GYM and Al Haymon.

Yvonn Michel declined the Kovalev fight to become the IBF's mandatory challenger... and if Main Events lost the purse bid to defend his IBF crown against Beterbiev, Kovalev would have either had to vacate his title or break his exclusive contract with HBO.

Kathy Duva very publicly acknowledged Michel's ploy. And we've already seen Kovalev withdraw from an opportunity to face Adonis Stevenson for the very same situation.

We've also recently seen GYM outbid Main Events for the Beterbiev-Barrera fight, so Yvon Michel has a long history of preferring to proceed with purse bids rather than negotiate with Kathy Duva.

Simply put: Beterbiev didn't "refuse" to fight Kovalev, his promoters declined to allow their man to face Sergey on Main Events exclusive terms.

I've been saying all along that if/when he faces Kovalev he will destroy him. Nothing has changed my mind. I highly doubt Ward will ever agree to fight Beterbiev, too much risk too little reward for him.

Looks like a beast but needs to be moved on quicker. Within 2 years as a pro he had wins over 2 former World Champions in Cloud and Campillo but hasn't added anything impressive to his resume since. The Barrera fight would have been a great step up, shame it fell through. He needs a big fight this summer - Stevenson, Alvarez, Smith Jr, Clev, Pascal or Fonfara would be good.

He is 32 years old, and his career for what ever reason injury, boxing politics whatever has not taken off at all. It is often brought up that he beat Kovalev in the amateurs and is way better than Kovalev. That may be true but Kovalev has already had a great pro career with multiple memorable fights against Pascal, Hopkins, and Ward. Meanwhile Beterbiev next fight is against Isidro Ranoni Prieto a fighter I have never heard of.

I hope Beterbiev does have a great pro career against great opponents, but this hasn't happened yet and at 32 the clock is ticking.

In my opinion, he could be better than Ward and Kovalev. He needs some meaningful fights, as the clock is ticking.
