Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Wilder vs Wawrzyk
I'm seeing articles that this eagerly anticipated bout is close to done for Feb 25th in Alabama.
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
For those who don't remember, Wawrzyk is the guy who was splatted early by pre-Wlad Povetkin. He also has some nice dance moves:

Who will be next after Wawrzyk? Andreas Sidon?
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Come on now guys, he deserves an easy fight after taking on shot Chris Arreola
But the hand!!!!
But the hand!!!!
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Wilder should be stripped... He's a phony... Why not take a competitive fight like Luis Ortiz after all the 3rd rate fighters you fought?

Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Wilder is a protected fraud just like Primo Carnera - Al haymon is desperate to manufacture a fraud hwt counterfeit champ and Wilder got the job after seth mitchell got slaughtered by a handpicked patsy - You can be sure all of wilder's fraud fights are manipulated WWE scripted events and that's why povetkin is being railroaded out of his earned title shot -
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Wilder now stepping below the Top 30 for his opponents. Wilder is one of the biggest jokes going in Boxing right now, and has made the WBC Title all but insignificant.

He's been out injured so mission is get him a fight to focus him, get him back out but also through a training camp!
Low risk, then ready for tougher fights later in the year.
Fair enough, sensible career management.

Fans that attempt to justify these garbage matchups need to find another sport.T w_savage wrote:He's been out injured so mission is get him a fight to focus him, get him back out but also through a training camp!

Would you say that since Stephen Curry had an injury in the NBA playoffs last season that the Warriors deserved to face an easier team than the Cavaliers in the Finals?
Wilder is supposedly a Champion he should at the very least be fighting guys in the Top 10. That's the bare minimum of what fans should expect of him. There's no excuse at all for a Champion of any major title organization to be fighting a guy that's not ranked in the Top 30.
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Wilder and 'then on to tougher fights later in the year' seem to go together an awful lot

Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
If Wilder takes 5 voluntary defenses in a row, virtually all against soft opposition... the WBC belt isn't real. Without a belt around his waist, Povetkin has been fighting Takam, Charr, Perez, Wach, and Duhaupas. It pretty much puts his own WBA title run, as well as Wilder's WBC title run, and Joshua's IBF title run to shame.
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Wilder is a joke. He will probably sprain a toe and be out until next December and fight somebody like Dominic Guinn, bust his hand again . . .

But sadly it isn't
This time next year were will be lamenting on Deontay having faced Wawrzyk, then another sub par opponent, because a complication got in the way. And someone will be making excuses for the fact his first opponent ion 2018 is a fornicating dud too, as we continue the wait for him to get a worthwhile opponent or slip up on one of these banana skins
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
1. Szpilka, 2. Wawrzyk....Boxing Writer wrote:Who will be next after Wawrzyk? Andreas Sidon?
the natural progression must be Wach, the 3rd best Polish HW
A couple years and he'll have worked down the list to Kolodziej and Sosnowski
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
If Wilder had ever fought a top 10 opponent while champ, no one would be making an issue of him fighting this guy as a warm up returning from injury.
But the fact is Wilder has never fought anybody as champion. He deserves all the flak he gets.

Joke of a fight. I feared he was going to go for Christian Hammer but he's managed to outdo himself and find someone even worse.

Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Can someone argue that WBC doesn't have an agenda protecting Wilder ? Why are they allowing those crappy defenses ? If Wilder fought a real opponent and lost, the winner would keep paying sanctioning fees the same way as Wilder. There must be something else. Did Ryabinsky somehow cross Sulaiman ?

It seems that way. There may be some money from Wilder's management going to the WBC and/or VADA.boxing_rocks wrote:Can someone argue that WBC doesn't have an agenda protecting Wilder ? The promotion of Wilder is very similar to the heavyweight in the movie The Harder They Fall.

It seems we've been here before:

...but he does fit the bill for a Wilder WBC defence. As soon as he steps in with Klitschko, Ortiz, Joshua etc he's getting flattened.

Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Just like that time he took a low risk fight for his first title defense, and then ready to... take a low risk fight for his second defense just in time to... take a low risk fight for his third defense, but then he valiantly... took a low risk fight for his fourth defense, all culminating in... taking a low risk fight for his fifth defense, AND THEN...T w_savage wrote:Low risk, then ready for tougher fights later in the year.
Deontay doesn't have a pattern of following-up a low risk fight with a tougher one, or fighting tough opponents when he's healthy. His only pattern is low risk fight, low risk fight, low risk fight, low risk fight, low risk fight...
