DEFINITION OF KNOCKDOWN

i. A knockdown results in a fighter touching the ground with any part of his body due to damaging attack(s).

ii. A standing knockdown is when the fighter has sustained damage and the referee determines to stop the attack from continuing.

iii. The Referee determines a knockdown and will proceed with the count once the opponent has gone to the neutral corner.

iv. If the opponent does not follow the Referees instructions to go to the neutral corner the count will stop, and will start again at 1 when the fighter reaches the neutral corner.

Just for you :TU: Judges also scored it a knockdown too :TU:
Um, the referee ruled it a knockdown so the judges had to give Calzaghe the extra point. It isn't up to the judges discretion.
I didn't say it was up to the judges discretion.

I see barry is still chatting shit :TU:

You know a lot about him from reading other peoples opinions?

Why not mention you have never actually seen him in action? Tracy would always mention something as important as that. But, then again, Tracy is a pro.

Bazza, what purpose, other than trying to hide the fact that you've been caught out again, do these childish insults serve?

barry, if you had any intelligence at all you'd realise how pathetic your 'threats' are.

And I see you couldn't live without your moderator 'status'.

Let's fact it though, without the ability to delete posts you'd lose every arguement you got into wouldn't you?

Careful now, bazza, you don't want to have another nervous breakdown do you? Someone let the cat out of the bag about why you get preferential treatment... I laughed til I shat myself when I heard about THAT.

The only way for a judge to counter a KD is to make it a 9-9 round. Otherwise, they have to score it a 10-8 round because a KD is -1 no matter what you think. I think if anyone scored the Lacy bout with a 9-9 round they were on crack, PCP, LSD, or some other type of hallucinogin.
10 point must system. Can't have a 9-9 round without a point deduction. Best a judge could do is rule the round 10-9 for Calzaghe or 10-10. I don't know HOW a judge could rule a 10-10 round with a knockdown, but it has been done. I believe Michael Moorer got a 10-10 round in the 2nd round of his first fight with Holyfield when he was dropped with a hook. Made the fight a win for Moorer instead of a draw. Someone like that. I also remember a judge giving a guy a 10-9 round when he was dropped, not the other guy. Bullshit in my opinion.

Not sure why we talking about Calzaghe in the "Boxers of the Past" Forum but oh well.

It was a nice win for Calzaghe, I wouldn't go any farther than that. It's doubtful that Jeff Lacy is going to go down as an all time great.
Calzaghe needs to beat some big names before he will be regarded as a great fighter. There simply aren't any big names in his weight class. He could fight the winner of Taylor-Wright, but that's probably not likely to happen. Really his only other option is to move up in weight and fight Tarver for the lightheavyweight title (assuming Tarver beats Hopkins).
He would get some respect if he did that. However, if he just keeps fighting guys in his weight class he is never going to get a lot of respect outside of Europe.
