I would like to see him face a Povetkin, Ortiz, or Wlad as well. I am not happy with this choice. I understand he can do better. However, can someone tell me what is so bad about this guy. Granted, I have not seen him fight. But, looking at his record, he has only lost to Povetkin. I mean, before Joshua signed to fight Wlad, he feasted on a Deontay left overs and I do not remember hearing any criticism.

Holy Cap!!! Are you kidding me? Do you actually believe that this crop is worse than the collection of bums WKlit ruled over for a decade? Come on, man.Cap wrote:The heavyweight division sucks and is the worst it's been in many years. The 1980s had some really pathetic boxers but these guys now make them look good. Anyone who thinks Joshua, Wilder, Ortiz, Povetkin, etc are "natural" athletes worthy of comparison to the greats is delusional. Even Chris Byrd in his prime was better than this bunch of PED losers.

Wilder was set to fight Povetkin. Wilder was in Europe traing for that fight. WBC ordered a postponement. Next, Wilder is set to fight the Povetkin/Stiverne winner. Povetkin, again, fails a drug test. Now Wilder is set on fighting the Wlad/Joshua winner. I don't get it. Lately, he has been trying to make the biggest fights. Since Povetkin jacked this up again, he is taking another stay busy fight. To his credit, he hasn't backed out of anything. Let's see what happens after the Joshua/Wlad fight. People just hatin on the best heavy in the world.

First of all, it's a complete lie that Showtime wasn't going to televise the fight. You can see here, they had secured the rights and were going to show it live at 4 PM EST:

Second of all, you really think he flew to the UK and trained there for weeks for a fight that he knew wouldn't happen?
I'm guessing you also think 9/11 was a controlled demolition, Sandy Hook never happened, and Hillary Clinton's advisors run a pedophilia ring out of a pizzeria basement.
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
Ah. Very clever technicality. When Martin was an opponent for Joshua, he had Glazkov on his resume. But when Martin was a challenger for Glavkov, he didn't. *nods*Impractical Poster wrote:Technically, Martin beat Glazkov. However, the Glazkov/Martin fight was for a title. And Martin was a challenger then as well... Just sayin.Lackeos wrote:
As far as what's so bad about Wawrzyk, what's good about him? He has 0 wins against top 50 opposition. That's extremely pathetic even compared to Breazeale (beat Mansour), Martin ("beat" Glazkov), Molina (beat Adamek), Arreola (beat Mitchell), Szpilka (beat Adamek), Duhaupas (beat Helenius), Scott (beat Thompson), Leapai (beat Boytsov), etc.. It's been quite a while since we've had a heavyweight title challenger who had 0 wins against then top 50 opponents.
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
'Wilder wants big fights'/'he's going to do all this and prove the haters wrong'/'let's wait to see what happens later in the year'; we've heard all this for years, yet his competition is going downhill and he's shown no signs of challenging himself unless he's forced. When he fights the AJ-Wlad winner, great, but until then it's just yet another round of uninspiring opponents and 'big fights soon' for the flailing one.Impractical Poster wrote:Wilder was set to fight Povetkin. Someone is just as bad as the 'haters' if they continually give Wilder passes and subtly try to justifiy dreadful opponents like Wawrzyk (or at least minimize how bad and undeserving they are). Not even a year into his career AJ destroyed an opponent who dropped, badly hurt, and arguably deserved to beat the guy Wilder is fighting after 8 years and nearly 40 fights as a pro.
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
I still rate Povetkin as easily the best heavyweight in the world without a title, and a win against Parker would be a formality. Unfortunately, he seemed to have PEDd up. I would not blame the champs for ignoring any challenges from him.

Wilder was on holiday in the UK, you can look back at the vids, he was totally out of shape and had more fat on his body as he ever had before, as well as after.jujigatame wrote:Oh please. I'm not even defending Wilder's awful opponent, but some of you guys are too much.

I hate to break it to you, but there is no "allowable limit" this time. I think they should have banned Povetkin from his last failed test since it was a urine test. A blood test most likely would have been more incriminating. Ryabinsky can't buy his way out of this one.

I also see when one of your ridiculous points is proven to be a lie, you pivot away to other points without acknowledging it. That might be the #1 sign of an irrational person who believes something solely because they want to, not because they are interested in the truth.

You're wrong about the urine, and even though there might be no "allowable limit" (not sure), it's obvious that someone doesn't get any stronger from 0,00000000001 gram of any substance. In fact he only lost weight since last time.Badhusker wrote:asdfjkl wrote:Actually, he's most likely innocent again, Wada/Vada most likely screwed up again.Gnome wrote:I still rate Povetkin as easily the best heavyweight in the world without a title, and a win against Parker would be a formality. The last two are taking it easy for a while, living off the money they got paid by Haye's people just to show up and find a nice spot on the mat to fall down on. Yeah they'd make good opponents for Wilder.
Re: Wilder vs Wawrzyk
I've tried to defend Wilder but I just can't do it anymore. I was agnostic as to why Povetkin-Wilder was really canceled but come on man, Wawrzk?
Stiverne
Ortiz
Pulev
Ruiz
Takam
Miller
are all ranked by the WBC and would all be better.

That's my main problem with Wilders defender too; they spout off about how Wilder wants the best fights, but external circumstances deny it.
So why if contender #1 fails a drug test is their next option non-contender #56? Lots of acceptable opponents between Povetkin and Wawrzyk...oh yeah he has to test his hand again
Indefensible.
