Why is there no boxing on Boxing Day?
Why is there no boxing on Boxing Day?
It seems like poor promoting not to take advantage of a day called Boxing Day.
Some people might think that it would be corny, but who cares?
It could become a significant part of the Christmas tradition and help to get the kids into boxing at an early age and then keep them for life.
What's the problem?

Don't know but I remember when Sky Sports used to dedicate one of its channels to boxing for most of Boxing Day.

Do you think a arena could sell out a decent bill so soon after christmas? Being a bank holiday public transport and wages would be any major factor. Staff everywhere who would be involved not just in boxing but as ive said in transport, hotels etc would all want paying extra so the promotion would cost more to run. Thats my opinion, of course a small hall show could be organised.
Aside all that who would want to work all over christmas to get a show together?
Maybe thats the reason. As for gyms, Lee Murtaghs gym is open in Leeds today so im sure gyms all over the uk will be open in some form.
As for kids, too busy on their new ipads and on their new ps4 games.

I agree horse. People travel all over the country for footy so the travel doesn't have to be an issue. To start a tradition like this I think you need some basic familiarities year upon year.
I reckon starting at 8pm on terrestrial TV with at least 2 British title fights on the line.

There was stuff on earlier. Replaying the Quigg v Frampton fight. I turned it on and Quigg was throwing punches so it was at the end of the fightbanjo wrote:Don't know but I remember when Sky Sports used to dedicate one of its channels to boxing for most of Boxing Day.

Wasn't there a feature in Boxing Monthly about boxing on Christmas Day in Belgium or somewhere?
But yes, boxing should definitely take place on Boxing Day. If nothing else, it would stop people asking why Boxing Day is called Boxing Day if there's no boxing on.
