Ok, so what you are saying is that since PPV all the top boxers fight each other and they get top money?

Noooooo.

What I am saying is that the ppv model brings money in to the sport. That is a fact.
Because of which, fighters are better paid - which is always a good thing, considering they are putting their health at risk by entering the ring for our entertainment.

Secondly with more money in the sport, the big pay days become VERY lucrative.

I'll give you a recent example - during the Chisora vs Whyte The Gloves Are Off programme, Chisora tells Whyte that nobody heard of him before the AJ fight & that he only took it for the £100,000 payday.
Yet Chisora admitted refusing a £250,000 offer before the fight was offered to Whyte.

- And consider for a moment that was only a British title fight.

And looking at the MASSIVE paydays that certain British fighters have earned for taking big fights:

David Haye earned 10 million for the Klitchsko fight.

Amir Khan got 9 million for the Canelo fight.

Eubank Jr waa offered a 4 million pound package for fighting Golovkin at home, which Brook stepped in & took.

Having money in the sporr can only be a goid thing & encourages fighters to make the BIG FIGHTS & make their families financially secure.

Its based on the successful WWE model - "free" regular shows to stir interest for the regular PPV events to milk the fans. That's what the whole thing is designed towards.

WWE don't do PPV's now , all on the WWE Network for £9.99 a month or pay SKY £16.95 a show and if you're on Virgin not even in HD

Sort of. In WWE a viewer will see the same performers and the same feuds on ppv that they watch regularly on tv, just in more high-profile 'contests' - so the latter is used partly as a marketing tool for the ppv upsell and it's a logical strategy.

In boxing, you won't see the majority of ppv headliners fighting on regular Sky shows in the lead-up, so it's a more circuitous path and a less natural one.

It was PPV over here and aired in god knows how many countries around the World so a hell of a lot of tv money went into the pot.

On the Matchroom Sky deal I did think Hearn said in an interview that there was an option to merge the money from 2 or 3 bills into one to try and get better fights onto standard Saturday night fight nights. So plucking a figure out the air that they usually get £100k per bill, the option is there for a few bills to have £200k go into the pot.

Call me naive but I'd be surprised if DeGale vs Smith went on PPV. Would completely contradict everything Eddie has said about DeGale not being a PPV fighter in the UK because of how he's fought in America for the last 2 years.
