Anthony Crolla will get the chance to become a world champion again later this year.
The former WBA lightweight champion, who lost his crown in September at the hands of Venezuelan stylist Jorge Linares, has been granted the opportunity of a rematch.
Crolla lost on points at the Manchester Arena against the divisional king on that night, live on Sky Sports.
For Linares, another victory over Crolla would cement his position as the number one at lightweight. Official confirmation of the rematch from promoter Eddie Hearn is expected in due course.

Not sure I see much point in this
I'm a big Crolla fan and feel he's excelled himself in recent times with limited ability.
But I though he was fairly soundly beaten and looked out of his depth by the end of the fight
I don't see what a rematch brings other than a nice pay day for Crolla
Plus, how does the losing fighter manage to bring the champion back to his home town for a second time???
I know Hearn pushes to get his fighter home advantage, but it's not like Crolla is a star attraction over here. well supported but not a huge name.
Usually when Hearn see's a big meal ticket he pushes strongly for the home advantage but when he's taking a gamble with a fighter he often doesn't mind sending them away, if he's likely to drop one, I wouldn't have though he'd have pushed the boat out for this one financially.

I don't see how Crolla will win the rematch, it will go down as another loss. Linares has fought everywhere, he did say he didn't mind coming back to Manchester.davie wrote:Not sure I see much point in this

Crolla has a good following in Manchester, that's the sole reason.davie wrote:I know Hearn pushes to get his fighter home advantage, but it's not like Crolla is a star attraction over here. well supported but not a huge name.

Fair enough, if the lad is happy enough, it's an easy fight for Hearn to makeRuthless-RKO wrote:I don't see how Crolla will win the rematch, it will go down as another loss. I suppose Linares knows he'll get fairly well paid and the home advantage won't make much difference, he's heavy favourite to win again in similar fashion

I don't see the point in this at all, probably won't even bother going, the card will be shocking as per

It was an unreal atmosphere last time...
I think it will be a close rematch

Crolla performed a lot better in the rematch with Perez. Maybe he can do better this time?
I personally doubt it but.....

Antonio DeMarco beat Linares on cuts and got the stoppage...and lost every round to Edwin Valero before quitting.. The only difference is Valero was bleeding like a stuck pig from a long forehead cut caused by an elbow slash.. Valero didn't want an TD win.. He wanted the KO to keep his 100% KO ratio -- and his corner finally controlled the cut and Valero was able to protect it.. The cuts on Linares were deemed to come from legitimate punches and he kept getting hit.
