Whyte vs Stiverne possible
Whyte vs Stiverne possible
Dillian has tweeted that a clash between him and Stiverne is being mooted as a final eliminator for Wilder's WBC title. I think Chisora won by a whisker but I have no problem with Whyte advancing his career with what could prove to be another shot vs shite thriller.
Any thoughts? I've never really given much of a toss for Stiverne and never really followed him. Whyte's "good showings" generally involve him getting smashed in the head very hard and Stiverne has a dig on him, right?
Interesting enough fight for me.

Good fight.
Re: Whyte vs Stiverne possible
I fancy this fight. I mean it is a logical step for the WBC as Whyte won his mandatory and Stiverne's fight was cancelled. It's also a logical step for Whyte, as he looks to step up his level of opposition. Stiverne is probably not as good as many have made out, probably because at one point he did have the WBC strap, so I fancy Whyte to scrape a decision. Stiverne does have some miles on the clock, has a chin, and can whack, so it'd be very interesting how this one goes.
If it was to go ahead, are we expecting Whyte to be dragged across the pond?

Re: Whyte vs Stiverne possible
So Wilder lines up another knockover job for his comeback,
meanwhile for his next fight the WBC are lining his excuses up for him, by making his next mandatory another easily beatable foe.
Stiverne he confidently out boxed for the title and with inactivity and age, would be an even weaker threat than before.
Whyte is a little over domestic class and gets hit far too easily to last the distance with Wilder

I would've thought Eddie would put up the dough to bring Stiverne over here? Stick Del on the undercard and it's an easy sell out. Who's going to care about it in the states? It's got the 02 written all over it.Rob3_142 wrote:I fancy this fight. I mean it is a logical step for the WBC as Whyte won his mandatory and Stiverne's fight was cancelled. Whyte has a puncher's chance against Wilder, who is no great shakes himself
Re: Whyte vs Stiverne possible
Whyte would have a much easier night than he did against Chisora IMO, and I think Pov would've wrecked Stiverne.
Stiverne became quite overrated for his Arreola wins, and is now approaching 40 having fought just once in the last two years. He does have some pop, but is also a very lazy, plodding fighter who does nothing for long stretches; old Ray Austin easily outboxing and outhustling him for the better part of 10 rounds always stands out to me.

Re: Whyte vs Stiverne possible
I honestly don't think Stiverne is any better than Chisora. He's pretty much a one opponent wonder who has looked mediocre numerous times (twice failed to beat journeymen, unanimously losing to old Ray Austin into the 10th, dropped by Rossy last time out, etc.), and I'd take Chisora to outwork and beat him.Rob3_142 wrote:I fancy this fight. As mentioned before, Stiverne is also going on just a single fight in the last 2 years, and will soon be 40. He does punch harder than Chisora, but he's so lazy and slow on his feet that I think Whyte will have an easier time with him than with Del.

Stiverne is one of the few highly ranked fighters I'd take Del Boy over. Barmane is dreadfully overrated.crusader wrote:I honestly don't think Stiverne is any better than Chisora. Nice fight! Sad to see how overprotected Deontay Wilder is against Alexander Povetkin, an innocent men who get's accused of all kinds of wrongdoing, which he didn't.

Speculative opinion or do you have any facts to back this up?asdfjkl wrote:Nice fight! Sad to see how overprotected Deontay Wilder is against Alexander Povetkin, an innocent men who get's accused of all kinds of wrongdoing, which he didn't.

Would prefer to see Whyte rematch Del Boy.

Decent fight. Think Whyte will be too fresh and busy for Stiverne at this stage in his career tbh. Points win for Dillian. Would rather see the Chisora fight again though.

You lie lillywhite14, somehow till this point Povetkin and his team continually turned out to be correct and innocent. All facts prove it, they have kept their word all the time.lillywhite14 wrote:Povetkin is Russian so in asdfjkl's world that makes him innocentfizzjambo wrote:Speculative opinion or do you have any facts to back this up?asdfjkl wrote:Nice fight! Did you see them on that episode of Esther Rantzens hearts of gold? It was truly touching.asdfjkl wrote:You lie lillywhite14, somehow till this point Povetkin and his team continually turned out to be correct and innocent. Nope, it sounds like something for Wilder fanboys, not my thing.jameswilson wrote:Did you see them on that episode of Esther Rantzens hearts of gold? Since when has Whyte been a puncher?dr_devious wrote:Whyte has a puncher's chance against Wilder, who is no great shakes himself
Stunning AJ is proving more and more as time passes to be more indicative to the punch resistance of AJ than it is of the power of Whyte.
He has 15 KO's in 20 fights which suggest he is not featherfisted, but then a closer look reveals the KO's were against people who were there to be KO'd. The fights against anyone with any substance whatsoever have all gone the distance

Re: Whyte vs Stiverne possible
I think we saw Whyte's level vs Chisora tbh.
Stiverne is still a decent name on paper and holds a very high ranking with the WBC but really is at the end of his career. Although, I would think it would be a very close match with Whyte.
Not a bad fight, but a lot of money to lose against Chisora in the rematch if Whyte gets beat, which is certainly a possibility.

Stiverne wins this easily for me. I would rather see Whyte v Arreola

You're the boy that keeps on banging on about Briggs aren't you?
I don't know why I even bothered asking in light of this!
Re: Whyte vs Stiverne possible
Nice fight, can see Whyte outworking Steverne over 12.
Stiverne carries a bit of power but doesn't throw nearly as many punches as Chisora and Whyte did show decent powers of recovery in his last fight and would likely have time to recover from a wobble.
Would this be on the Joshua/Klitcshko card or will that show not have the budget for decent undercard fights like this?

Briggs, who isn't a Russian, yes I do regularly talk about him, he got a rank that should offer him a shot at high level contenders, somehow most of them seem to be scared of him.fizzjambo wrote:asdfjkl wrote:You lie lillywhite14, somehow till this point Povetkin and his team continually turned out to be correct and innocent.
