Ruddock is one of the most over rated fighters I can think of.

Ruddock went the distance with Tyson in 1991. That version of Ruddock would have beaten Povetkin.

He sure as Hell wouldn't blast out the Takam who fought Parker..Ruddock was easier to hit than the Zealander.badkatt wrote:so your telling me ruddock wouldnt blast out charr/takam/duhapaus/perez ??????????? speaking of over rated ?tiny_acres wrote:Ruddock is one of the most over rated fighters I can think of.

Going the distance with Tyson in '91 should not be used as a barometer.RScarf1 wrote:Ruddock went the distance with Tyson in 1991. That version of Ruddock would have beaten Povetkin.
That fight was terrible & the lack of skill was alarming.
It was two big punching brutes trading single shots for 12 rounds with little or no finesse.
That fight proved that Ruddock had heart, but no-one ever doubted that before.
Povetkin isn't a great fighter by any stretch, but he would not stand & trade single bombs with Ruddock the way Tyson did.

SO WHO WOULD U BET THE HOUSE ON ? POVETKIN OR DONOVAN RUDDOCK ?Syntax Error wrote:Going the distance with Tyson in '91 should not be used as a barometer.RScarf1 wrote:Ruddock went the distance with Tyson in 1991. That version of Ruddock would have beaten Povetkin.

Ruddock started off as a good boxer, but by '91 he had morphed into a one punch at a time slugger who was drunk on his hybrid hook/uppercut smash.
I think Povekin does the fundementals better than Razor did.

Ruddock by early ko.
Re: todays alexander povetkin v prime donovan ruddock ?
Feels kind of even.
Re: todays alexander povetkin v prime donovan ruddock ?
Razor suffered a bit with health issues so it depends a bit. I think there was a time when Tyson was #1 Ruddock was #2 Bowe #3 and Holyfield #4. Tyson considered Ruddock the next best.
Prime Ruddock beats Povetkin. The usual RR that we saw after the Tyson defeats it's more 50-50.

I agree - very evenly matched. Povetkin has better fundamentals and is the smarter boxer, Ruddock is the naturally larger man and has a sizeable edge in punching power.Lackeos wrote:Feels kind of even.

i agree with you that povetkin has better fundementals .....but go watch on you tube ruddock v odum(i know odum was a journeyman) or even a past prime ruddock v page ....i really doubt povetkin is gonna beat donovan ruddock (takam wouldnt be in the top 10 in th e90s....charr =lol ....duhapaus good chin but hes not even as good as pierre coetzer man .... ruddock blasts povetkin....Syntax Error wrote:My money would be on Povetkin.badkatt wrote:SO WHO WOULD U BET THE HOUSE ON ? I'm not a fan of Povetkin at all but I'd favor him to win this fight. He has better fundamentals, better skills, much better chin and stamina. Ruddock was bigger and stronger but that's it. He wasn't smart fighter and he wasn't variative. Povetkin by late KO/TKO.

Re: todays alexander povetkin v prime donovan ruddock ?
I don't think Ruddock was top-3 HW even when he was at the top of his game. Holyfield would beat him 10 times out of 10 any single year after coming up from cruiserweight, Bowe and Lewis once they had 20 pro fights would always beat him too and do it easily. Tyson beat him twice. I'd favor Moorer and Witherspoon to beat prime Ruddock too. Morrison brutalized Ruddock when both were way past their respective primes, so prime for prime I think he could do it as well. Mercer, Douglas, McCall could have had at least even chances against Razor. Hell, I'd even favor ancient 42-years-old Foreman and Holmes to beat him.Lennox wrote:Razor suffered a bit with health issues so it depends a bit. I'd say mid to late rounds stoppage. Anyone who picks Povetkin in this matchup is obviously clueless.badkatt wrote:frazier by stoppage lateMachoTime wrote:Povetkin vs. Joe Frazier ?

Yeah baby... Frazier had such a good defense... was never stopped... and didn't get bounced off the canvas a dozen or so times -- right???

so your telling me frazier of march 1971 v todays povetkin would loose to povetkin ?Kalan wrote:Yeah baby... Frazier had such a good defense... was never stopped... and didn't get bounced off the canvas a dozen or so times -- right???
Re: todays alexander povetkin v prime donovan ruddock ?
Damned straight... Frazier got the crap knocked out of him in that 71 fight...
If Ali wasn't such a light hitter the effect would have been the same as George Foreman hitting Lil' Joe... Povetkin blasted Perez and Takam out and they had NEVER been stopped in their lives -- and were one HELL of a lot bigger and stronger than fat little Joe Frazier -- who looked like a basketball vs Foreman he bounced off the floor so much.. Wilder is big, tall, monster puncher but couldn't put Duhaupas down... Povetkin put him down for the count and then some... He iced the mother.
