F. Warren believes the Eubanks are conning the public with this IBO crap

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Tommy Langford was set to challenge Chris Eubank Jr for the British Middleweight Championship after promoter F. Warren won purse bids. Shortly after Warren announced the fight Eubank pulled out of the fight.

Speaking about Eubank’s IBO world title fight, Warren added:

“The fact they don’t want to fight someone in case he serious injures him (Langford) and he’s well above all these fights. Even if that was an argument and it isn’t an argument, it goes completely out the window when he talks about the guy he’s fighting (Quinlan) who’s had 11 fights – where do you go?

“IBO title? Who gives a crap if it’s for the IBO title, if it’s for the WBO, the WBC or the X-Y-Z it is a crap fight and it is not a PPV fight – irrespective of all that rubbish it is not worthy of PPV. And it certainly not worthy of Eubanks, who’s had 20 odd fights. Now, he’s supposed to be fighting Golovkin, supposed to be fighting Saunders, supposed to fighting Langford – don’t tell me that’s progressing your career!

“There conning people saying there on this platform with 60 million viewers, the old man predicting 6 million buys – Coronation Street only gets seven or eight million viewers.

“There not appealing to boxing fans, if, they are the boxing fans know better. You look at the ITV situation just now which is fantastic. These people (Eubanks) are conning the public about this IBO crap, about contracts, about people being slippery and the only slippery people are them.

“There found out by their own words (Warren holds up contract) documents signed by them. Which is a sad subject to litigation.”

He is conning the public but only if you're daft enough to buy it! I would've probably have taken a look if it was 3-5 quid but 20 quid for this tripe? No thanks.

That being said I have no interest in seeing Eubank dismantle a bang average Langford either!

People say this about all PPV fights, but ultimately they are worth what people will pay for them. A sample survey admittedly but of the people I work with, the Monday after Joshua Molina everyone was talking about A, how good Whyte Chisora was, and B, how they thought Joshua v Wlad would pan out.

I don't think anyone will be talking about the Eubank fight, because nobody will watch it.

At least with a Sky PPV you've usually got a semi decent undercard. Most of them are bullshìt but most of the time I'll buy em because it's a full night of boxing and I'm usually stuck in with the kids at the weekend in any case.

20 quid just to watch two B/C level fighters in a main event is a joke and as you say I can't see anyone buying it. Eubank just isn't as big a name as he thinks he is yet. Yeah he has the potential to be a top top fighter but they're notoriously difficult to deal with and this latest ploy looks doomed to failure IMO. He's already burned his bridges with the two biggest promoters in this country and this ITV thing is bat shìt mental if you ask me. He would've been better served going on terrestrial tv at first and them giving him a bit of a build up before trying the PPV against a better name.

I think Eubank Snr is seriously damaging his sons career as well but that's probably a whole other thread.

It's no worse than the WBO crap that basically was a British title ( plus) he sold us and built fighters with.. He's still doing that, British level fighters masquerading as world champions via WBO. Fighting lower level British fighters and weak international ones..

So warren has not got a leg to stand on.

In his latest IFilm interview Eddie Hearn, for once, agreed with what Frank had to say 100%. I found it funny when Eddie said he was watching the allegedly interview, about Eubanks conning the British public, and found himself sitting there agreeing with Frank saying "Go on my son, go on"

To be fair lads it was only 16 defences over 4 years - maybe it slipped his mind?

I've missed something over the New Year period. I knew about the PPV nonsense on ITV but was led to believe it was going to be £2.99 which was far too much. Is someone saying it's going to be £20?
This is incredible. You will not find much more than 100 people buying this, and the big danger of course is that the disaster will put ITV off doing anymore.

Eubank Snr tweeted saying it was £20 and that's great value for money

It's becoming in teasingly doubtful that Eubank Jr will ever test himself against a credible opponent.

But surely the guys at ITV who are dealing with this know their boxing and are fully aware of how few people will buy this.

For me this either goes free to air or is cancelled.

You'd think so but his dad was doing the same thing 20 years ago.
People like Roy Jones Jr, Michael Nunn & James Toney consistently called him out yet he'd rather face the likrs of Dan Schommer & Gary Stretch.

And the earned over £10 million doing it & telling the public that he was "Simply The Best"...

Maybe once but not anymore. These days the WBO is a World Championship & some of the best names of the sport have championed them.

Wladimir Klitchsco, David Haye, Joe Calzaghe, Bernard Hopkins, Oscar De La Hoya, Mandy Pacquaio.

He still doing it. Calzaghe was the last big name to do so. He had Liam Smith challenge for a vacant WBO title. Made 3 shitty defences until a big noney fight came alone. At least with Top Rank (who also hog the WBO) have their fighters in there with decent names.

Oscar Valdez won the title against an absolute waster. And defended against someone well out of their depth.

Zou shining got it vacant against a guy he had dominated about a year before
