The Sun and Scouse Boxers
The Sun and Scouse Boxers
Post Caveat: I agree that the Sun coverage of Hillsborough was bang out of line...
Tony Bellew is digging David Haye out for reading/being featured/looking at The Sun newspaper and it's a pretty common theme. The majority of Scouse boxers dig people out, don't do Sun interviews etc. etc.
If you are going to make a stand - all well and good. But Sky is a Murdoch machine as much as the Sun and they don't have a problem fighting on that channel and being paid as pundits.
The Sun, Sky and Murdoch are one and the same so why the difference?

They're not really the same, they all have very different staff and governance structures. When the News of the World got done for phone hacking, the Sunday Times didn't need to close.
Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
I don't look too kindly on people who read The Sun. Fair play on Bellew for taking such a stance.

Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
I don't know anyone who reads a paper anymore but if I did, it would be the Sun. I'm not a scouser and used to enjoy page 3, cartoons, dear Deirdre etc, all for 20p. If you don't look to kindly on me, I'll sleep with one eye open...Dixonian wrote:I don't look too kindly on people who read The Sun. Fair play on Bellew for taking such a stance.
Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers

Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers

Its well known for its lies and it doesnt matter if your scouse or not that pile of crap wrote terrible vile things about fans who were helping the injured or dying, pity the reporter who wrote that nonesense couldnt put down his pen and help the injuredmickey1975 wrote:I don't know anyone who reads a paper anymore but if I did, it would be the Sun. Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
David Haye isn't a scouser, nor a Liverpool fan and I suspect he probably ain't even a football fan.
The Sun is woeful and the worst of a bad bunch on the whole.
Bellew just waffling on again. Trying to "unite" Merseyside. Outsiders would never understand lads, we just can't grasp how special it is to be from that place etc etc etc

I think your right too regarding the paper and the tv company,so in theory the smiths and bellew are getting paid with cash that ppl have bought the rag withjizzle wrote:Post Caveat: I agree that the Sun coverage of Hillsborough was bang out of line...

How long is this ridiculous grudge going to be maintained ?
In virtually any other circumstance you can imagine relating to what was at the end of the day only hurtful words, no matter how disgusting the sentiment, the prevailing wisdom would be to move on and let bygones be bygones. Your average scouser of that generation and every one since however has self pity and a victim mentality hardwired into their emotional makeup.

Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
I read the Sun at work every day and although I can totally understand peoples grievances and refusal to read or pay for it after what they did,its still the best paper out there for me,the Star is celeb obsessed and the Record is a bit boring IMO.so I'm not gonna either buy a paper I don't like or not read one at all just to make a point, ive got better things to wory about
As I said I can see where people are coming from but it doesn't fuss me too much after all most tabloids are scum anyway who'll do anything to get a scoop

Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
Scousers love a bandwagon.
I have made the point about Sky sports a few times but these days I prefer to make more constructive use of my time by posting on 40 pages of the MBC thread.

Well read it then but why take a pic of it to wind ppl up who have lost family in a tragedy and the rag made terrible lies about the ppl who were helping the injured and dying, if you cant see my point then im wasting my time.mickey1975 wrote:He can read what he wants.thechump wrote:Nothin like that lilly its just a bad subject in these parts and its real bad taste,if he wanted to do bellews head in wear a liverpool shirt simple initlillywhite14 wrote:David Haye isn't a scouser, nor a Liverpool fan and I suspect he probably ain't even a football fan.

Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
Unfortunate the some people are using this to get in the same old sly digs at Scousers.
My issue isn't with what David Haye reads. The man is a gimp and has been for years. My issue is with people that trot out the same crap time after time.
'Self pity city', 'victims', 'love a bandwagon', 'just let it go' - the exact same rhetoric used by main stream media for decades to discourage support for the Hillsborough campaign. It's a genuine shame that some people, even after the findings and proof that has come to light in the past few years, continue to buy into that shite, consciously or subconsciously . Would you say the same if your city had been affected in the same way? To be honest, I don't know which answer is better. If you wouldn't, you're a hypocrite. If you would, you're spineless. Imagine if the people of Liverpool had listened to and followed that patronising bullshit for the past 25 years. You'd think the last few years would have changed people's minds. Apparently not.

Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
My ideology is a bit screwed up with all this i guess.
Im a Liverpool fan although not from the city, and i dont buy the sun. But... my dad did and i had an occasional browse of it, and even if at work etc and i spot one ill still flick through it, but i dont buy it out of principle.

Does the Sun newspaper have the same staff and governance structure as is had in 1989?Boxerbeetle wrote:They're not really the same, they all have very different staff and governance structures. When the News of the World got done for phone hacking, the Sunday Times didn't need to close.

Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
Why is it a ridiculous grudge? Choosing not to support a commercial product that supported and spread lies about an incident that involved the death of dozens of innocent people from your home city strikes me as perfectly reasonable in the circumstances.CaptainSpacerod wrote:I expect The Sun has very different staff and governance structures now than they did 27 years ago.Boxerbeetle wrote:They're not really the same, they all have very different staff and governance structures. You really are a moron aren't you to try and say the rag is ran by different people then call it a ridiculous grudge, then to make a statement as sweeping as the average scouser has a self pity and victim mentality hardwired into their emotional make up.
I may be the most bitter Evertonian on the planet but we all had friends and relatives at that game, for then that rag to drag their name through the mud with lies and then wonder why we get annoyed that anyone would read the rag, I would love to see your reaction had a similar story involving people you know and see if it was a ridiculous grudge then.
I'm far from the internet hardman or keyboard warrior but i would love to see you say that to one of our faces you piece of shit
Re: The Sun and Scouse Boxers
The reason for posting is that everyone is allowed their opinions but if you are so ardently against The Sun then it would be obvious to carry it across to Sky, The Times and everything Murdoch has his mucky fingers in.
It's interesting how people get hating. Haye has p1ssed off all the london cabbies by tweeting an uber promotion over Christmas. They are calling him a sell out and supporting a rape travel firm. You can;t win.
FYI, I fornicating love uber...Cabbies have been rinsing Londoners for decades and now can't stop crying. Fleecers.
