"Chris Eubank Jr: I'll train myself ahead of return to ring"

"I will push myself as far as I can without having someone watching me and saying that I need one more round.

"I am the fighter who will say I want to do one more round even when I am knackered.

"I don't need somebody to push me or tell me what to do..."

It disappoints me to read about Chris Eubank Jr. failing to make the most out of his career.

He needs a proper training team, a good manager and a promoter that can progress his career optimally.

In my mind, Chris Eubank Jr. had the potential to become a genuine world champion, but I fear that the poor decisions he is making outside the ring will ultimately ruin his career. An unfortunate waste of talent!

The funny thing about this is I remember his dad saying something similar, Boxing Monthly interview in September 1990 (or thereabouts). 'From what I've seen in this country, please don't train me.' It struck me at the time that he seemed to think he knew it all already

His ego is going to be the ruination of him.

Far more talented fighters than him never trained themselves, so why he thinks he can do it & be a success if beyond me.

Anyway, what he really needs to learn at this stage is how to use find & use a pen to sign a contract whenever a big fight lands on his doorstep; something he isn't very good at right now.

In his biggest fight yet, he failed.

I believe he's in for a surprise with the Australian guy.

Probably not the greatest idea, since trainers sometimes tell you things you don't already know, and a person can't tell such things to themselves. He is a world class fighter with plenty of capacity to earn money. He is probably best off spending some of his money to get the most out of his training, rather than training at a sub-par level and losing his world class capabilities.

Yes, it's definitely going ahead. There just hasn't been any official launch of the fight, no pressure conferences as far as I'm aware.

His father is rubbing off on him. This is the same sort of poppycock that Eubank Sr came off with recently in an interview with Kuan Cassius on IFLTV (50 min video on YouTube)

Chris Sr (who wants to be called "English" these days?) criticised Promoters and Managers who, and I quote:
"Have not been in the ring"
and that
"They do not understand the warrior's code, nor can they ever".

In a different interview he said that Trainers who haven't been in the ring should not be employed by fighters.

This is a man who believes that he can Promote better than everyone else, Manage better than everyone else & be a better Trainer than anyone else because, as he says:

"I know what is it like to be battered and bruised. I know what it is like to be knackered and want to go home, but then fight on"...

I don't think the man can differentiate between fighting, promoting, managing & training...

And now Chris Jr is going the same way about it.

Really? Based on what? The guys record isn't great.

I don't think that there's any hope at all of it even being a competitive bout. Think this is going to be a Eubank Jr walkover.

That's what you do.. When you reach a certain level you know what you need.. You may want to work on the jab more one day because you want to bring that skill up.. If you mitt maestro is having you work something else you tell him what you want to do.. If he disagrees you get somebody who will work with you.. Your people have to listen to you.. Right now Eubank probably has more boxing knowledge than anyone on his team.. Not that they can't teach him anything or tweak anything he does.. but he has enough professional fights to know where he's at skill wise, and who he's ready for..

When he fought Saunders he wasn't really able to evaluate his game like he can now... In the last 2 plus years he's brought all his skills up a great deal because he wasn't happy with that SD loss... He can more than match anyone in the division except Golovkin, and he's ready get Saunders and other guys who haven't really been paying attention to getting better every day.

Eubank will be an unbackable favourite for this fight and rightly so but I have seen him wobbled afew time's when Gary O'Sullivan fought him and with all due respect O'Sullivan certainly aint world class Eubank seems to have it all speed/power/great balance/charisma..................................... well just about everything the O'Sullivan fight gave us all a sneak preview of future event's in the career of Eubank Jr :maybe: I shudder at the thought of what would have happened if he did fight GGG...........Good luck to both warrior's especially Renold who's jumping in the deep end. :salut:

I don't understand how this kid continues to get headlines and interest like this. He's done nothing to earn it. Like who really cares if this kid trains himself or if his Dad does? Why is this news? British Boxing has a lot more stars to gravitate around and enjoy instead of guys like Jr, Fury and Haye who are just tools. They really are. Nothing but mouthpieces.

Can anyone name one world class fighter that hasn't needed the services of a trainer? I think this is a very bad idea. Only a trainer can see what he is doing wrong or what needs to be corrected in training. You need someone outside of yourself who can critically analyze your strengths and weaknesses instead of having your ego do it.

Exactly.

I have to laugh at someone like Eubank Jr who is so deluded that he thinks he can reinvent the wheel.

Boxing was around long before Eubank Jr & there was a reason why all those ATG fighter had trainers.

Quinlan is a natural super middle, he's precise and can punch.

Unless this is another customarily "English import" farcical bout, where the opponent just shows off for a fat paycheck, Euwank might encounter a surprise or 2.

Eubank Jr is powerful at Middleweight, I don't think that transition to Super Middle will be all that difficult for him. And it would take a very good fighter to beat him on his home soil.

There isn't that much money being generated for this fight, certainly not the amount that it would been if it were for Sky.
