Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
According to veteran promoter Don King, his side lost close to $2 million as a result of the canceled fight between his heavyweight, Bermand Stiverne, and Russia's Alexander Povetkin.
Last month in Russia, Stiverne was scheduled to face Povetkin in a WBC final eliminator. A few hours before the event was scheduled to start, the World Boxing Council announced that Povetkin had tested positive for banned substance osterine - which has the same effects as anabolic steroids.
"Stiverne was very disappointed, he lost $1.5 million plus we lost the money invested in its preparation... about 300-400 thousand dollars We lost the purse bid, we had invested in training, flights, . visas for the whole team, we also lose the money that should have received after the fight. All of the losses that have occurred... it's just a disaster. Nobody can predict what will happen in the future with this fight, but in this situation we are victims. We were seriously hurt in terms of money, and mentally," King told Elena Sobol.

Ryabinski filed 1 against King when Jones failed drug test against Lebedev. So sweet revenge.

Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
The WBC could be in line for several lawsuits if Povetkin’s B-sample test, which is being opened tomorrow, is proven to be clean (either because it is or the minute trace that has been detected is too small to determine guilt with 100% absolute certainty).
Didn’t the WBC go bankrupt when Graciano Rocchigiani successfully sued them for $31m? If Povetkin’s guilt isn’t proven, you’d have to assume that Andrei Ryabinskiy and Don King will both file lawsuits against the WBC for the way they’ve handled their drug testing.
To be honest though, I cannot see a situation whereby the WBC doesn’t deem Povetkin of being guilty of doping, because if they don’t, it could be disastrous for that organisation.

Well I can imagine that the WBC would immediately turn and point the finger at VADA. How can this situation of gotten so messy so easily? It almost seems that all the testing has been completely incompetent.Enlightened-One wrote:The WBC could be in line for several lawsuits if Povetkin’s B-sample test, which is being opened tomorrow, is proven to be clean (either because it is or the minute trace that has been detected is too small to determine guilt with 100% absolute certainty).

Nothing in Russian or English...Riabinski wrote something about Swiss lab sample...but next thing he started to blame the team and test them on polygraph.greg wrote:...I know, there were rumours around that time that on Dec. 6, 2016 there allegedly was another sample sent to some Swiss lab, never heard anything since, have you?bigman1968 wrote:greg wrote:I can't imagine B-sample being clean, if it is though, the hell will break loose..

..me too, don't think these tests are relevant though, as the VADA tests taken after he got caught were negative..bigman1968 wrote:http://www.sport-express.ru/boxing/prof ... i-1080379/bigman1968 wrote:Nothing in Russian or English...Riabinski wrote something about Swiss lab sample...but next thing he started to blame the team and test them on polygraph.greg wrote: ...I know, there were rumours around that time that on Dec. 6, 2016 there allegedly was another sample sent to some Swiss lab, never heard anything since, have you?

They could have their money and additional 500K they requested and Ryabinsky agreed to add if Stiverne didn't chicken out or wasn't influenced by somebody else.

Can you imagine how scared he was, he could have picked up 2m, but prefered to chicken out.
Either way, the fight Povetkin actually took was way more competative anyway.
I feel sad that that drugscheat called Stiverne chickened out, but maybe it's the best for the fans, nobody was interested in him anyway.
Sad to see Wilder was such a pussy as well.

Or Bumvetkin when he ducked Klitschko for years and defended his title against Warwzyk and another bums before Klitschko sparked his ass you , you biased russian moron
Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
I think the biggest concern is why two positive drug tests have happened. Either Povetkin is up to his eye balls, or VADA have well and truly cocked it up.asdfjkl wrote:Can you imagine how scared he was, he could have picked up 2m, but prefered to chicken out.

I think if I found out that my opposition had just failed a drug test for juicing, not sure how keen I'd be to fight him. Then Duhaupas gets well and truly sparked clean out.

What kind of question is that? Or are you referring to Stiverne's test?boxing_rocks wrote:Really? Even if you are juicing yourself?Rob3_142 wrote: I think if I found out that my opposition had just failed a drug test for juicing, not sure how keen I'd be to fight him.

Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
Povetkin followed the advice of his trainer, also, Povetkin fully admitted he wasn't as good at the time as Klitschko, on top of that, Povetkin wasn't the champion, like Wilder and Klitschko, but the mandatory. A mandatory can duck, he just won't become champion, a champion shouldn't be able to duck the best, like Wilder does.Unbiased Expert wrote:asdfjkl wrote:Can you imagine how scared he was, he could have picked up 2m, but prefered to chicken out.

Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
Vada obviously failed during the first one, and about the second one I have my doubts as well, 0,00000000001? That was the amount of grams traced? If you kiss an avarage bodybuilder you'll probably have more of it in your body.Rob3_142 wrote:I think the biggest concern is why two positive drug tests have happened. But ofcourse Stiverne is really really scared of 0,00000000001 gram right? Also note that the test before, as well as after were clean.
Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
I think that's a bit of a naive statement. It's the effects the drug would have one the body in greater volumes before the test. Drugs do not make your muscles stronger. They allow you to train harder for longer which results in stronger muscles. Taking the drugs for the fight itself, albeit stupid, wouldn't have the desired effects.asdfjkl wrote:Vada obviously failed during the first one, and about the second one I have my doubts as well, 0,00000000001? Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
That's a wrong headed statement... Povetkin was tested for months and months and passed every test with ease... Than hours before the fight he comes up positive again??? ... WTF?!? ... That makes no sense!!! That was done to destroy Russia as a venue for World Heavyweight Championship Fights and to stop Ryabinsky for bidding on lucrative World Championship Fights -- and stop taking those lucrative fights away from American promoters -- which is his right.Rob3_142 wrote:I think that's a bit of a naive statement. Since VADA lied and misrepresented Povetkin's PED tests for the Wilder-Povetkin Fight...why would ANYONE trust them??? VADA is mixed up with ex-con PED pusher Victor Conte.. Now the fox is in control of the hen house.. Conte gave athletes "nutritional supplements" he said were legal and would pass any PED test.. His athletes tested positive for PEDs and put the blame on Conte... Conte was convicted and thrown into prison for PED pushing.
Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
BTW... Don King is another ex-con jail bird... and he's an extremely dishonest individual -- and total Trump supporter... And I guess you know that.
Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
$300-400k in preparation, and Stiverne still looked like a tub of goo
Re: Don King Says $2 Million Lost in Povetkin vs. Stiverne Fallout
Don King looks like a ton of penguin sheeet... He keeps trucking, I don't know how... Hopefully he out-lives Trump and dies tomorrow.
