The thing is, I reckon he would admit that most, if not all, of the people he trains are just wannabe divs. They gladly give him £20 an hour to train them and he'll tell them how great they are on the pads etc and its a winner for everyone.

The unlicensed stuff is very popular around his way at the moment. Seems like everyone has a title fight coming up! I know two of the "promoters". Pair of wankers who take the piss out of the "fighters" and because they are just happy to be part of it, they accept it.

I livenear this area and know the unlicensed boxing scene well around these parts. Particular promoter who takes the absolute piss and almost every fight is for the 'toys r us' middleweight crown and 'toshop' lightweight title to give examples.

There are some great unlicensed shows who I would rather go watch than a pro show tbh but unfortunately Johnny Armour and his 'lads' don't fall into that category.

Trust me, in these particular unlicensed promotions, there isn't anyone who could be described that way!

I know in other set ups, unlicensed can be a decent prelude to a pro career.

Some would say Armour should have been jailed years ago - by the fashion police - for that God awful rats tail he used to sport in his fighting pomp.

Most of the unlicensed is crap, but there's the odd "ringer". I know an exceptional kid who fought under his brothers name because of his amateur license. I actually felt sorry for the local ticket seller he boxed.
