John McDermott? He doesn't even fight anymore does he? That's almost literally the definition of digging somebody up. He was quite likeable and deserved the nod over Tyson in the first fight but got done in 1 by David Price yonks ago. Hughie would take heat for FIGHTING him, let alone ducking him.

The above piece features quotes from Peter Fury about how Hughie had to pull out of a British title fight last May. It's now eight months later, he's still not had a fight since, nor does he have one scheduled, and he's failed a drug test.

I like Bunce but a lot of his articles seem to be reminding people that the Fury's still exist. He can't go from knocking back British title fights to world level with nothing in-between surely? His level of opposition has been very weak, which is fine; Hughie is a prospect and a young one at that. But he needs to get active. If he doesn't have something sorted soon he'll be getting on for having six fights in three years. Fine if you're elite, not when you're fighting Larry Olubamiwo in eight rounders.

I personally think AJ has made a mistake going for the world titles so early, he should have looked to face pulev and the likes first - big step up between Charles Martin and wlad. Although they are banking on wlad being past it.

Pulev is too dangerous, for too little money.

I think that Hearn has made the right decision.

Pulev looks likely for him after Wlad and on PPV now so generates him more £.

Hughie is undoubtedly talented and with time on his side (22 FFS), he wouldn't have to really make his move for some time yet, but he completely outboxed Rudenko with ease which suggests to me he's capable of winning the European title right now.

It would be nice to see him in some crunch fights in 2017, but I'm prepared to wait as he becomes more seasoned. I'm not sure he'll ever set the world on fire unless his punch power improves (which it might), but he's a sound boxer who will be very difficult to beat.

That article also says they will keep him active at a lower level, which hasn't happened.

It just makes no sense to have a year out then fight Parker which would be abroad where his dad / trainer probably can't go.

Parkers next fight will probably be announced in Feb. So it will all be clear then.
