Is there, has there ever been film of Zale-Graziano fights?
Is there, has there ever been film of Zale-Graziano fights?
Any real historians give the crystal clear answer on this?
IF that can be determined I think it would help our pantin' public sort out a mystery which abounds in our forum
Is it possible that there WERE some celluloids that have been rendered useless due to age?
I think it worth our time to sort this mystery.
Thanks to anyone who can help bring clarity to this.

The only mystery is why you are seriously discussing this.BoxBuzz wrote:IF that can be determined I think it would help our pantin' public sort out a mystery which abounds in our forum.

As in full fight film? Because if the question is 'has footage of a Zale-Graziano fight ever existed in any shape or form?' I remember seeing highlights on a '80's HBO documentary which featured Mike Tyson talking over footage of Boxings Greatest Knockouts with Larry Merchant. I'm can't say I'm absolutely certain though. Was a long time ago and I could be mistaken.
Re: Is there, has there ever been film of Zale-Graziano fights?
I've been into boxing since 1976, FWIW, and I'd always read that no film existed for fights one and two. That's been the conventional wisdom for years. My impression was always that they weren't even filmed, though I may have just assumed that.
Then the silent 'bootleg' clip of fight two showed up. It's on YouTube now, as we know. In the YouTube comments for fight two someone says, "Fiim rights for fights 1 & 2 were tied up and couldn't be resolved. A tragedy, really..." 'Course I don't know who this guy is or if his statement has any basis in fact.
Searching Google News:
An article on the upcoming Patterson-Moore fight states that there was "no TV" for Zale-Graziano II.
An article on the third fight mentions movie rights for that fight; articles of the other two bouts make no such mention.

Thanks for all the assumptions....
I find it genuinely interesting.....and you find it annoying.....
Grab the pitchforks, and burn down the house of Frankenstein I guess.
apparently my interest is annoying as well.
And yet, anyone can ignore this. And save themselves the agony.

Stop being grouchy....you'll grow old.
Sleeping is a good idea....but like rust...Saad never sleeps.
Anyway....it appears that other than a MYTH that a very bad tape may exist somewhere I have it on good authority that other than audio recordings, there are no document films of these events.
I got all happy and giddy for a moment at the prospect that something like this might exist...just to be disappointed at either a troll's imaginings, or a false memory of an aging boxing enthusiast.
I'm in the minority when I say I believe it's the latter.

Claims to be Zale-Graziano II - I am not sure, you make the call - no knockout recorded - you can see Zale being banged around the ring near the end oft he fight, but no 'Zale hanging over the ropes' can be seen (at least with my old eyes)

"To the sporting fraternity I can say that before long it will be possible to apply this system to prize fights and boxing exhibitions. The whole scence with the comments of the spectators, the talk of the seconds, the noise of the blows, and so on will be faithfully transferred."

looks like it was authentically filmed via bootleg camera to me.APerno wrote:.

I doubt whomever filmed it brought enough film along with them for the entire fight in their'cigar box" camera.
they wanted it for a souvenir and so started filming from the beginning in case there was an early knockout.
