Erislandy Lara vs Yuri Foreman

Post by handsofstone »

1st big card of the year on Friday sees the PBC continue to put on shite mismatches,i could've sworn Foreman retired after his knee went in his world title fight against Cotto 7 years ago but looking through his record he was stopped by Wolak in the next fight then I assume he flirted with retirement because I definitely remember something about him retiring and wasn't he promoting too?

He's won about 7 on the spin since the KO to Wolak although that's been spanned over about 7 years, surely he must be finished,i never thought Lara was that impressive in the Martirosyan rematch and thought the low blow deduction on Vanes was harsh and robbed him of a draw,Lara clearly has ability to match anyone around 154 but needs to up the workrate because he's in danger of losing his title to a lesser fighter, although Foreman will not be that man,i think Lara should get a rare stoppage, Foreman's knee must surely still be knackered

This cards being shown on Spike in the US but as per we'll probably get treated to it the following week,Spike UK pisses me right off, surely they have the rights to show the fights, why don't they just show the PBC cards live, the bunch of pudenda

Terrible fight I know but after the holidays it will do for now until the next day

I'd rather watch paint dry than watch Lara or rigondeaux. Too negative

So Lara wins in the the 4th

He still done pretty much nothing before the KO, he did put Foreman down in the 3rd but it was hard to say if it was legit, he did land a left hand but it was difficult to say if it was that or a slip that caused Foreman to go down, In Lara's defence the uppercut that put Foreman down to end the fight was 1st class,a kind of sneaky left uppercut on the inside that Yuri(or me) never seen coming,Foreman's knees seemed to look like they were bothering him again as he tried to rise but he was done

Maybe Lara can get a decent fight next, there's no doubting his ability but he's a fighter who needs a challenge to get the best out of him otherwise he can tend to go through the motions

Saw highlights this morning. At least Lara didn't carry him it seems.

GGG should have called Lara's bluff last year. I would have had much more interest in that fight than Kell Brook.

Lara did zilch for the 1st 2 rounds but yeah thankfully he didn't carry Foreman for too long

I think he would have been content to carry him Foreman just came forward and put too much weight on the front foot leaving himself wide open for the uppercut and Lara took full advantage.
