The whole incident is plain stupid. If Nick says he wants to spar, the response should be 'no Nick, you could die'.

All I can think is that the trainer was really young and felt pressured by the ex British champ coming in. No excuse, just trying to get into his head.

Yea you would of thought everyone there would have done all they could to talk him out of it

It's a tough situation for a young trainer though. Obviously we don't know the full story, but Blackwell might have insisted he was fine and said had been told by doctors he was OK to spar. It would surely be hard for a novice, young trainer to call him a liar.

Yeah? Didn't say it wasn't stupid, wouldlnt disagree it was selfish . Just saying he is game as anything. Still very silly and all involved are clueless but when you've got people like canelo ducking ggg left right and centre and making ridiculous fights, it's sad that someone like Blackwell who would clearly fight anyone tomorrow if he could will never be able to box again and has to do divvy things like spar which he shouldn't to maybe feel alive?

Some people are just born to fight no matter what, what's in them is in them, and they need to be saved from themselves. Unfortunately no one here was there to do that for Blackwell
