George Foreman (1973) - undisputed HW champion 2017 ?
Re: George Foreman (1973) - undisputed HW champion 2017 ?
Yes.
A younger Wlad and I'd be scratching my head. Joshua would be the biggest challenge, but I'd go with GF.

Mystifying how some perceive fury as some master boxer for exposing the old fraud. No way he lasts a round with prime George.Rexob wrote:Not a chance Fury would outbox him and befuddle the KO artist, with Foreman running out of ideas and falling to the king.
And old Fraud who was already beaten by Ross Purity, Corrie Sanders, and Lamon Brewster, all who aren't even comparable to prime George Foreman.

He had the most raw power I have ever seen in a boxing ring. How he demolished Norton and Frazier was incredible. He made them both look like a man vs a little boy in the ring. People were shocked Ali survived. After Ali, he went downhill fast it seemed, it really took something out of him mentally. At his best though, my opinion is he KO's 95% of all the heavyweights in the last 30 years, and all in present time.
And it's overlooked because of his perception and style that Ali could bang as well. Liston, Patterson, and even Frazier would attest to that.

I'm terrified for Wlad just thinking about it. Styles make fights and on second thought I wouldn't be too worried for GF. Wad was likely better than his brother, but Vit took a better shot so therefore would have a slightly better chance against George.

Wlad would at least have a punchers chance. Vitali doesn't have that. Neither is beating young George. Vitali could outpoint the old version, more than likely would. Old George ices wlad too.Tony1244 wrote:SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Wlad would be terrified.Tony1244 wrote:Yes.

Fury is unbeaten and hasnt been any where near being beaten with proper tactics, Fury stepped up when he had to with klit and imo would do the same to big George. Foreman was shown to be susceptible to being outboxed and got knocked out which is a fact. Yes Foreman was a monster puncher who moved like a mummy he wouldn't stand a chance against a fast slick moving awkward spider arm fighter like Fury.

Nonsense. At his lowest, he weighed the same as Tyson, a fighter that would never fight at cruiser. Yes, it's possible but very unlikely for the money is at heavyweight.Enlightened-One wrote:... Foreman is the same size as David Haye. He also frequently weighed well under 220lbs in the early '70's without making any effort to lose weight, which is striking distance of the 200lb cruiserweight limit (as per Tony Bellew's rehydration weight).

Nothing on boxing forums in undisputed. Zero.
It doesn't matter if something is a rolled gold fact. It will be disputed.

In 73 Foreman beat Frazier and Roman today he would KO Joshua/Wilder/Parker/Fury and Wlads seen better day's..... in my opinion none of these heavyweight Champion's today would have beat a young Monster like George in 73...............you had to be Ali

Have you checked Foreman's official weight when he competed during the early seventies, which was captured on the day of the fight?ValMar wrote:Maybe, when he was sixteen........man wrote:what?Enlightened-One wrote:George Foreman was around today, he'd almost certainly compete at cruiserweight.
He'd only need to lose the same sort of weight that welterweights like Peterson, Thurman, Ortiz and Maidana had to, with the official weigh-in's currently taking place the day prior (i.e. 15lbs to 18lbs) to make the cruiserweight limit.
Tony Bellew's and David Haye's rehydration weight was on a par with Foreman's official weight when they both competed as cruiserweights, with both men being about the same height as Big George. I'm confident that with a little bit of research, I can name other cruiserweights that rehydrate to Foreman's official weight during the early seventies.
Re: George Foreman (1973) - undisputed HW champion 2017 ?
Big George was a natural HW, obviously. You are right considering some current CWs, but Foreman's body type was quite different....Enlightened-One wrote:Have you checked Foreman's official weight when he competed during the early seventies, which was captured on the day of the fight?ValMar wrote:Maybe, when he was sixteen........man wrote: what?

I am afraid that we are off topic, by the way...

compete at cruiser today. but why would
he want to do that since he obviously has
the power to compete at heavy?
being able to make a lower weight class
does not mean it makes sense in every
circumstance, certainly not for george
foreman.
it is for every boxer a fine thing if he can
manage to fight at his natural weight and
does not have to endure extensive weight
making. i do not think george would even
for a second contemplate competing at
cruiser.
