I see people are already calling Canelo a coward & I can see why they are upset (GGG) although I don't like to call fighters cowards.
Even though I'd love to see Canelo GGG I think this is a decent fight to be had - assuming he & Golovkin can meet on September 16th.
Canelo hasn't really been involved in a major Mexican bout & even though Chavez Jnr has been on a self destruct path for the last few years he's still a big enough name to create a buzz, especially with my Mexican mates.
But I do appear to bee more easily pleased than many on here

Just my opinion, it seems they have made up their own weight classes and own reasons this ridiculous fight should happen. I love boxing, it will always be the best sport, but bouts like this damage it, and it's bouts like this why some people turn to mma, where some times the technique may lack and it's not quite the same, but where people get 50/50 fights and not so much politics .

I completely get your response & ain't disagreeing with you.
But I'm the eternal optimist & rather than worrying about what fights should be made (f*ck all I can do about it) I just hope for the best from fights have HAVE been made.
I never pay for PPV so it's not like I'm losing out.
This is Jnr's last chance so we could well see a fired up version of him having a proper pop. At least that's what I'll be hoping for

The difference is that canelo is a MW draining to LMW and Jnr is a LHW draining to MW.
Wouldn't be surprised if jnr fucks Canenlo up, to be honest. Canelo has the dimensions of an over muscled WW. I think Jnr could present him with plenty of problems
A catch weight of 164 point f**king 5 lbs. plus also Chavez Jr gets fined $1million for every lb he is over.
Also read there is drug testing in this fight for a weight that Chavez hasn't made in years yet when Canelo had to make a weight for the first time in years ( v Liam Smith) there was no drug testing.
Alverez can't fight Golokin at middle, but can fight Chavez jr above the middleweight division ? It is disgraceful, he is waiting for Golokin to get older and go on the slide, as Mayweather did with Pacman.

This is a clear attempt by Golden Boy to take advantage of the mexican market and cash in on a very safe fight for their prized asset Canelo. Did anyone see the article this week about Golden Boy's income? i understand that it showed that Canelo was their only fight who made them any money. No wonder they dont want to risk their Golden Goose agianst GGG? A loss could effectively fold the company.

Yeah, doesn't Canelo bring in c. 97% of Golden Boy's revenue, something like that? Smart business to keep him in easy fights, but sh!t for the fans.
They're taking the piss. But, this generation of fans is stupid enough to lap it up.
Cinnamon claiming so many times he's not a middleweight, to go up into super middleweight. And Chavez, who has not been known for his professionalism, is a liability going into big fights.
But they could end up putting an attractive fight on.
