Could they have earnt more if the fight was in the UK?
DeGale/Jack isn't a PPV fight in the UK, theres little to no hype going into it.
DeGale doesnt have a big fan base so revenue via selling tickets would have been hard to come by aswell.
Could a combined purse of $1.5million be generated on a Saturday fight night in the uk? Highly doubt it...

I think Callum is terribly overrated and is stagnating, but I would worry for James on the scorecards if Hearn stages that one. there have been some exceedingly iffy scorecards for Matchroom fights and with Degale's tendency to make fights he is winning quite easily suddenly become close on the scorecards I'm sure Hearn would jump at the chance to rob him. He's probably going to have to knock Smith out.
I like DeGale and want him to keep winning as well, but a couple of things with the post above. Isn't DeGale still, at least in part, with Hearn? Hearn was there at the weigh in. Definitely promotes him domestically still doesn't he?

And regarding iffy Matchroom scorecards, I think the two highest profile Matchroom fights of last year which went to what could have been a close decision were Frampton Quigg and Crolla Linares, and both went the right way in my opinion.

Only way is with a stacked card and don't think Degale will ever headline one of those .

Degale v Groves II will be a huge event. Think that's why Hearn is back on the scene.

I'm surprised how this seems to have the big fight feel, even over there judging by IFilm. Maybe it's Floyd. DeGale looks totally switched on to me, I don't even think Camp Eddie will want him in with Callum if he shines tonight. Then again, Edward has never been shy of throwing his lads to the wolves if a ppv is involved.

I've heard, it's written into the contract that if DeGale beats Callum, he has to fight Paul again for the undisputed crown. Their dad insisted, reckoned he'd earned it.

BillyTKid wrote:Degale showed good power early against Periban and Dirrell and Jack has been taken out early before. It's obviously a betting long shot with two evenly matched guys but I have a feeling he is going to jump on him.
Decent call & worth a punt. While Jack has shown a decent chin ( Groves ) he's obvs not bullet proof, & DG starts very fast & very confident, and slings a mean left hook - could catch him, and that would be jackpot career wise. Likely is DG points ...but it could happen

Might check the odds

I'm just hoping someone posts it on Youtube before I find out the result. Those all night sessions staying up watching fight cards in the US are beyond me now.

i think de gale is good enough to turn it on and make jack look average, but i think it will be fairly close de gale winning early rounds switching of giving a solid jack the middle rounds then winner takes all later rounds ,going to go de gale does enough at the end to win on points

Jack always looks bang average to me and I back against him nearly every time, but obviously he's pretty decent. Regardless, I think he's made for DeGale who should win comfortably as long as he doesn't try to coast it.

Ievgen Khytrov vs Immanuwel Aleem is an early candidate for Fight of the Year.

Round 3 an early candidate for Round of the Year!

Amazing fight
