Gervonta Davis - An Apology

Post by Taansend »

Whenever I see someone with multiple throat tattoos my initial reaction is....

"That bloke's a f*cking wimp"

Well, take a bow, Gervonta, because you proved Taansend wrong tonight.

I'll stop flicking bogies at the neck tattoo crowd from this day forth.

Davis was exceptional last night,it was always gonna be a big risk stepping up to world level so early in his career especially without a solid win going in but he made it look easy,he looks a special fighter, commentary mentioned Naz.Floyd and Broner and he definitely has that swagger and attitude not to mention the style of those guys, very flashy, quick and hits like a mule, Pedraza is a very stylish southpaw too but Davis made him look a bit one dimentional,Gervonta started very fast and was landing the big bombs from the off, then about the 4th Pedraza started to let his own hands go as Davis looked to be maybe tiring but then in the 6th Davis took the play away again and Pedraza musy have been demorolized as he was shipping some heavy punches,he did very well to stay on his feet more than once but the right hook to finish Pedraza off was quality,it looked a really hurtful shot

Davis is a welcome addition to the world scene, a fight between him and a Super Featherweight Broner would've been fun

On a serious note, Mr Hands, I did write him off before this fight. I thought of Pedraza as a solid 'champion' & he'd impressed me a lot in his bout against Klimov & then Smith.

Looking at Davis record I gave him a punchers chance but he looked like a complete package last night. Only very young so hopefully his head stays focussed.

Nice to see Baltimore get some good news too. A successful Champion from an area like that can inspire other kids to choose the right oath (f*ck me, I've been watching too many inspirational movies  )

Even though he disappointed in his fight with Lomachencko I'd love to see a fight between Davis & Walters but I doubt if Walters is returning anytime soon.

Hope he stays busy though.

Just realised he & WBA Champ, Jason Sosa, are relatively close to each other. A summertime fight between them in AC would be fun.

AC is dead. I grew up in the Baltimore hood as well. Luckily I'm an old man. Times were different then.

Cheers Saad.

Is a Baltimore v Camden clash a thing or do they not give a fck about each other?

The latter, it would have been a natural for AC back in the day. I live in Texas now, but everything I've heard is Atlantic city is a ghost town these days. I can't remember the last fight they had there.

Liam Walsh is lined up to fight the winner.. Walsh v Davis will be a cracker.. Walsh can bang and is a very big super feather Saying that if I was Walsh I would be looking at lightweight far easier fights. Lomachenko and Davis are fantastic champions will be very very hard to dethrone. Looking at Davis's size and age I'm sure he could make Featherweight. Some very big fights there that he would win and win well. Floyd said about getting him paid they won't go anywhere near Lomachenko

Really impressed with Davis

Heard of him for about a year but beat nobody's so didn't pay much attention to him until last night.

If you rate a prospect you put him in at decent level instead of talking about how they will do this and that. I've not been aware of any hype that this kid will be the second coming of God etc etc

Reminds me of a young Adrien Broner which could be a bad thing though.

This is the WBA we're talking about Naandrew.

Corrales is the 'Super' Champion, Sosa is the 'World' Champion :D
