Have to say I hate draws but tonight I'm happy with it, hopefully they both get mega bucks for the rematch.
Oh Floyd back in the ring interrupting JD's interview! Get out you wee Fcuker!

If Floyd did bet 500K on Jack like he said he was going to do then he just lost it with the draw and it explains why he was so upset.

scored it 7-5 for degale.
no big complaints on the draw.
trip to the dentist on monday morning for james.
Haha looked like the same one I've lost, it ain't cheap but reckon james will be able to afford it.
Great great fight loved it. So pleased I stayed up and watched it live. Personally I had it by 1 to degale. He must have won over a whole new fan base tonight what a warrior thought most of the latter rounds with no gum shield and how he made it through the last!!!!!
Fair play to the ref for making it through as well after taking one hahaha.

I thought it was a cracking fight and very, very close. I thought Jack edged it but I wouldn't complain about the draw.
I bloody hate draws in boxing though.

Thought jack took the fight as his work was far cleaner and he was mostly in control of the ring.
However the judges were remarkably fair- of that had been in the U.K. And the roles were reversed then there was no was out judges would be so generous to an away fighter- not a chance.

Mayweather is a massive gobshite. And he was dressed like a bus driver.
Great fight, didn't think Degale had that in him, serious balls.

Just watched the fight, didn't score it but a draw felt fair. That was the best I've seen Jack fight, he's really sorted his defence out. DeGale is still better, but paid the price for taking rounds off (as usual) and having a poor inside game.

Robbery of the year so far De Gale hurt atleast half a dozen time's or more clearly out pointed Jack....De Gale who's punch's mainly landed on Jacks Glove's and Arm's and in return Jacks punch's were the much much cleaner shot's through out the fight I know you don't judge a fight on who's face is busted the most after the event but De Gales face told a thousand stories after the fight the Knopck down in the final round by Jack was certainly the clincher for Jack..................................................Geeze I just had a terrible thought if Jack doesn't get the knockdown in the last round then De Gale wins a un dec
that would have a travesty. ![[icon_witsend.gif] :witzend:](./images/smilies/icon_witsend.gif)

I thought Jack won it and I expected it to be a UD. The scorecard given to Degale surprised me. I just felt from round 3 up til about 10 Jack controlled most of the rounds albeit some were close. The knockdown in the last really saved Jack but I don't think it should have. I thought he had it.ClivePatrickLyons wrote:Robbery of the year so far De Gale hurt atleast half a dozen time's or more clearly out pointed Jack....De Gale who's punch's mainly landed on Jacks Glove's and Arm's and in return Jacks punch's were the much much cleaner shot's through out the fight I know you don't judge a fight on who's face is busted the most after the event but De Gales face told a thousand stories after the fight the Knopck down in the final round by Jack was certainly the clincher for Jack..................................................Geeze I just had a terrible thought if Jack doesn't get the knockdown in the last round then De Gale wins a un decthat would have a travesty.

Jack was not busy enough in a number of close rounds. It looked like he was taking it over but Degale would comeback in individual rounds and in the fight. Jack was cutting it too fine activity-wise. He was the aggressor for most of the fight but Degale threw great combos to score points in rounds.ShadrachSimmo wrote:I thought Jack won it and I expected it to be a UD. It is true that in the UK the decision would have likely been lopsided for Degale in this fight and if the roles were reversed it would likely have been a relatively wide UD. But are we now going to cry robbery if the judges don't give home fighters their home advantage?
Re: Round-By-Round - James DeGale (IBF) vs. Badou Jack (WBC) - January 14th 2017
Degale is so frustrating to watch, all the moving and posing, the showboating he did at the end of one of the rounds when he should have been using that energy to throw a punch
and why didn't he go to the body more? I don't remember him trying Jack's body at all... He was always headhunting and getting blocked.
Jack had the big moments and looked stronger, but again he wasn't throwing enough: Degale is throwing all these punches... Yeah some missed but some got through too. You can't throw two or three punches to another guy's six or seven. He just had his guard up letting Degale flurry.
I didn't score it but it's one of those funny fights: if you don't understand the boxing scoring system then you'd say Jack won that. But if you're used to scoring it round by round then the draw makes sense.
For a fight with two knockdowns, missing teeth and a clocked ref it left me curiously cold. I don't know what it was... Maybe it was the fights that preceded it being more exciting, maybe, I dunno, it was hard to split a lot of the rounds and that was because one guy was moving too much or one guy was just shelled up.

Degale made it hard for himself I though could have boxed and popped him more instead of getting involved.
Don't know what Jacks weight was but if hes going up in weight then its the usual fighting the lighter guy crap still going on! which was evident and needs to change its the disease of the sport (same day weigh in)

I had degale winning by two rounds. But I'm fine with a draw it's one of them I could score differently when I rewatch.
Excellent fight though hope it happens again.
The sport need proper fights like this on a consistent basis.

I don't think it was a robbery I just felt Jack done enough. The draw I have no real issue with both men gave a good account of themselves but I'm sure both will also feel they let the win slip through their fingers.Tanzio wrote:Jack was not busy enough in a number of close rounds. Re: Round-By-Round - James DeGale (IBF) vs. Badou Jack (WBC) - January 14th 2017
I had it 114-113 Jack, if anything maybe could've have it slightly wider as there were a few tough rounds to score where you had to pick what you like,i preferred Jack's harder quality punching,he hurt DeGale but I'm not so sure DeGale hurt him,i was surprised with the difficulty DeGale had penetrating Jack's defence,i knew Badou had a tight guard but I thought James would be able to find the target more than he did, also I was surprised with the ease that Jack was able to hit DeGale
It was an incredible fight and a reminder why the best should fight the best a LOT more than they do,DeGale finished strongly up to the KD in the last but I don't think he was as busy early on as he usually is, maybe he was a bit shocked at how difficult Jack was, as going in I'm sure DeGale and his team felt Jack conventional style was tailor made for him but I was very impressed with Jack, who for about the 3rd or 4th time has proven me wrong
But yeah an excellent fight, cant argue with the draw and lets do it again

I don't want the rematch if it's going to be some catchweight rubbish.
There are plenty of other good fights for both, so I'd rather see those.

Re: Round-By-Round - James DeGale (IBF) vs. Badou Jack (WBC) - January 14th 2017
I had it 113-113 with Degale ahead 96-93 after 10. Jack struggled with Degale's movement and handspeed early on (though his body work neutralised that in the later rounds) and Degale struggled to get through Jack's tight guard and was noticeably affected by the body shots, especially the straight right to the body. (That said, the punch stats were clearly way off to me - Degale landed far more than was counted - it is always easier to see a shot land if the guard is down.)
I would not have complained about a close Jack victory - he had the edge in power and adapted better than Degale as the fight went on after being well down in the early going. Degale showed a lot of class in bursts but was hurt more and did not land enough to discourage Jack. He needed to stop relying on looping shots and throw more straight lefts to pierce Jack's guard.
