I had degale a couple ahead before the last round knockdown, draw was fair! Jack wasn't blowing or gassing and still didn't go all out, missed opportunity for jack imo, degale was blowing from 8 onwards and gave it all he had.

Was wondering the same too.
Jack had him in that last rd, 2 min to finish him or deck him again, and he did NADA.
Showed zero urgency in a close fight.

In any case, this is surely the end of Degale's hype. At 30, he's not going to be any better.
I thought the ref strangely protected Degale with a slow count after the heavy knock down.

In England there is no hype around degale and hasn't been since groves out pointed him.

The Draw was reasonable. I had it 114-112 Jack personally, but it was a close fight.

How many fights have you seen where both fighters AND the referee get knocked down?

Both boxers and the referee getting knocked down in the same fight, I think that is a first in boxing history. It will be remembered, but I think that unification bouts cannot always be assumed to have the top two in the division. I don't think it will be remembered as that, but as a close fight between two top ten boxers.

Yes, the ref was protecting DeGale and so did the judges. Haymon picked DeGale as a better money maker.

Fair decision.

My score was 114-112 Jack, close fight and would love to see them in the ring together again.
No problem at all with the draw for me.

The decision was a flat out robbery... Jack won no worse than 115-111...

He was the aggressor... He landed many more punchers and harder punches... He chased DeGale all over the ring and beat him up badly.

Once again Kalan states his opinion like it is fact and forgets (or ignores) that scoring in boxing is subjective and there are often many swing rounds that could fairly be scored for either fighter.

Badou did not win 7 rounds. It was a close fight but whilst Badou won his 5 or 6 rounds convincingly, DeGale outscored Badou in the others which is enough to get the 10-9.

The real problem is the scoring, it needs half points, The rounds DeGale won with 10-9.5s The rounds Badou won were 10-9. This was similar to the Ward-Kovalev.

The judges did not get it wrong in this fight. A lot of people that know how to score a fight had the same result.115-111 you might need to revaluate your scoring method because is clearly wrong. You have scored 8 rounds to Badou with the 8-10 (1st rd). :yay: :bag:

Scoring in Boxing should not be subjective.. That means you could score close rounds for either boxer.. If the more aggressive boxer lands more punches and harder punches during a round where he's carrying the fight and doing most of the leading and inflicting more damage -- he should get the round.. The problem with Boxing is lousy judges -- and sometimes judges who are paid to favor one boxer over the other.

That's exactly it though - you can score close rounds for either boxer. Some judges prefer activity and aggression, while others might favour defense and ring generalship. Clean punches landed should be the most important factor, of course.

To give an example, I believe about half the rounds in the Ward-Kovalev fight were swing rounds that could go either way depending on the judge. For me, Kovalev only clearly won rounds 1, 2 and 10, while Ward only clearly won the 7th. If you want the most objective judging, then you've got to have Olympic style scoring, hitting buttons, but that's even more susceptible to bias.

I dont think I scored exactly the same as the first poster however I came to the same conclusion 113 -113. I could easily see how Jack would get a 114 - 112 though. Thought Floyd was a bit over the top with his robbery talks at the end of the bout!! Draw is fair outcome. would love to see it again.
Neither of them are elite. They are just very good
Elite was ward froch and maybe Kessler.
That's just you making up your own definition of elite

:shame:

Elite fighters don't get blown out in one rd by journeymen.

Badou Jack is a solid contender/titlist, but nothing special. And he just beat up another solid contender/titlist in Degale.

Neither are elite.

Both have gone life and death in close fights against many solid, but uncharacteristic contenders.

I had it a draw. I don't know how anyone could give jack 8 rounds.

One could even give Jack more, plus score round 8 as 10:8.

I agree that considering Jack elite is questionable, but the underscored statement is wrong. It makes Pac not elite either, as he got stopped in round 3 by a 11-4-5 fighter.

Well, he wasn't yet elite back then, was he?

More acceptable to who? I was replying to poster saying that he couldn't understand how ANYBODY could score 8 rounds to Jack. It is clearly POSSIBLE to score more than 8 based on even your punch stats, especially taking into account that Jack's punches were doing significantly more damage.
