Re: MMA
Ooof!! Very bad decision and Joe Lauzon says "I disagree 100% I did NOT win this fight. 100% not my fight."
Marcin won that one 30-27 IMO. Joe's elbows in the first were the only thing he did.

Yair looks a full weight class bigger and the speed difference is pretty insane.

Well I called the round anyway...
Very hard to watch. All credit to Yair though BJ has slipped so far even since the Rory fight. He needs to be on the Shamrock/Gracie circuit. He should not have been in the octagon against anyone.

As for Yair, well he seems to leave a lot of openings that a few guys could take advantage of but he looked good tonight however an ancient BJ Penn isn't a good win anymore as we just saw.

Re: MMA
Yair looked 3x better than I thought he looked against Caceras. Some of that has to be down to BJ being beyond shot, but he is much more legit than I thought from some of the previous fights. Time to see him against a live body!
Re: MMA
BJ just didn't get going, it's clear he has nothing left at all. Even his chin has left him now. When he got the clinch I thought well he's obviously planning to grapple but he just had nothing to offer TD wise tonight. In his prime although he didn't use it a hell of a lot if he decided to take someone down they ended up on their back. I didn't expect prime BJ or anything crazy tonight but it seems as if all the natural athletic ability he had has left him both through age and his own laziness.
BJ will go down as one of the greatest to ever do the sport but sadly he will also go down as one of its biggest wastes of talent.

There's plenty of gimmes for him. The UFC have loads of domestic level fighters.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:They don't have any gimmes for him.p4p1 wrote:I think I found he wants to have on more go the UFC should let him have a gimme. He's earnt it.punchoutsb wrote:Well I called the round anyway...

BJ is finished and has been for years. I'm not interested in seeing him get a gimme retirement fight, but then again, I never liked him in the first place.

I'm in an Indian hotel and UFC is on, if any more proof was needed of the universality of the brand

Yep, agreed. It's certainly becoming a mainstream sport, in fact, I'd say it is perhaps actually more mainstream than boxing, it's certainly got affiliation with more sponsors.Counter-puncher wrote:I'm in an Indian hotel and UFC is on, if any more proof was needed of the universality of the brand

Like I said before the fight, it's not far off when a great fighter goes. He's probably good at 3/4 speed.Impractical Poster wrote:I wonder if Jackson/Wink sent him out there truly knowing BJ was done...

Even with the addition of Anderson Silva, 208 has the look of a fox card. I'll probably still watch it though
Re: MMA
God Woodley is an insufferable douche. He playing the race card again. It seems it's because he has to rematch Thompson, ya know the guy he drew with. Then Maia is going to be next no matter the outcome. He seems to think Racism is stopping him getting a 'money' fight. He just such a fornicating pudendum. If Wonderboy doesn't beat him, I hope Maia strangles him unconscious!

Re: MMA
I assume a "money" fight means McGregor? It's not the UFC's fault that there aren't any super high drawing challengers at WW right now.
I'm a little bummed Maia turned down Lawler, though. Would have been a super interesting fight.

Re: MMA
No the money fight he wants is GSP or Nick Diaz. I'm sure he would accept McGregor as well as its big money and an easy win. This is the same guy that sat out for like 18 months because he 'deserved a title shot' saying that Wonderboy is entitled.jujigatame wrote:I assume a "money" fight means McGregor? He also blamed Mighty Mouses lack of promotion or the fact he fights in free to air is because of racism rather than the fact he couldn't sell out his own living room. Jon Jones was treated bad and thrown under the bus because of racism and he Tryon Woodley is the worst treated champ because of racism.
I am bummed Maia didn't fight as well but I also know that if the last fight hadn't have been a draw he would be getting his shot now. He's on a good streak and does deserve his shot.

Re: MMA
Can't stand Woodley because of his attitude. Angela Hill is similar from what I've seen. Racism will never be dead, but in terms of marketing and paying athletes in America it is about as dead as possible...at least towards a specific group.p4p1 wrote:God Woodley is an insufferable douche.
