Mayweather Believes Broner Can Become The Next PPV Star

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Floyd Mayweather is backing Adrien Broner to once again lift world honours.

Speaking at the press conference for Broner’s fight with Adrian Granados, Mayweather revealed: “I’m proud of Adrien Broner. It was a minor setback for a major comeback. I don’t want him to overlook Granados. It’s an important fight.”

“It’s two hungry lions. That’s what it’s all about, giving people the entertainment. It’s a good matchup. Neither is a push over. It’s what boxing is all about, the best fighting the best.”

Mayweather will co-promote the event in partnership with ‘About Billions Promotions’ and believes the match up will be a fan friendly affair.

Speaking with his promoter’s hat on, Floyd revealed: “We’re always looking for the next pay per view star, both of these fighters have potential to step up and achieve that.”

Despite his out of the ring troubles, Mayweather is urging Broner to put the work in and show his early promise.

“He’s very flamboyant, very outspoken but still young. He’s got to go out there day in and day out and prove he’s the best.”

Translation: Haymon and Floyd are trying to manufacture Broner and rebuild his image - he will be protected from ever losing again - will the public buy Broner? This is what they are hoping and banking on because Floyd/Haymon Promotions needs all the stars they can create and manufacture -

Adrien Broner is a very naturally talented fighter that is extremely media savvy. However, he's a wealthy man and I'm not sure if he has the desire to obtain the prerequisite fitness levels and mental strength to be successful against the biggest names in the sport in order to become a PPV star. He's always going to get outworked by world-rated opponents that "needs" the victory more than he does.
