In 2006 it was speed vs power. In 2017 it's a similar scenario - Green's superior power vs Mundine's superior speed.

Green sums things up this way :
“I don’t know what to expect. Choc is a puzzle that is not easy to work out. He might move, he might stick and move, he might want to sit and trade and test his stones, so who knows?”

I can't see Mundine wanting to sit and trade. That would be playing straight into Green's hands.

Logically, Green will stalk and Mundine will use the ring, stick and move and try to wear Green down.

I think Mundine will win the early rounds with his superior movement. But I'm predicting a Green will catch up with him eventually and win by KO. Reckon round 5 might be where it ends.

I went to their first battle in 2006 and watched Mundine win the fight very comfortably. Time has changed in the 10+ years since then and I think Green is far too big now. He has been fighting big cruisers where Mundine has been getting dropped by top junior middles. Green by KO.

Green points. Both men are shot and if Mundines hip stands up to it he will dance and run his way to a UD loss against the slow as molasses Green.\
Maybe hit the deck 2 or 3 times.

Mundine's thoughts on the outcome :

“If a knock out comes, I’m not going to go looking for it, but if a knockout comes, I know if I tag him, I’m going to hurt him because speed is power and my accuracy is second to none."

“I want to put on a tremendous fight and then I might run for prime minster, who knows?”

Green's trainer Angelo Hyder's thoughts on the fight :

“I never thought the rematch would happen because of the weight difference.”

“Choc had to get beat badly at that weight – like he did – to realize that he is so weak at that weight and that his resistance was gone at that weight. I’ve seen it time and time again.”

“He’ll be much better and have stronger resistance at the increased weight. It’s a close fight at that weight".

“The only thing that lets him down to the general public, is what makes him money, he makes money out of controversy. People dislike him because of that, but no one can knock him for what he has done.”

Hopefully the extra weight makes mundine look healthy again. He looks like skeletor at 154. Green has to be the favorite, mundine style isn't made to last into your 40's. And green may be a bit slow and plodding but you have to imagine Anthony can't move like he used to.
Who knows though

It is a grudge match between two guys who have hated each other for about 14 years and are both desperate to win. That's enough for me and the many thousands who will attend or pay the PPV for it.

The fight and result in 2017 means nothing in the grand scheme of things. They're both cashing out some also say bragging rights are are up for grabs for the winner though I disagree.

Bragging rights were up for grabs years ago when they were competing at the same weight and MUNDINE WON THEM ... Don't listen to the i was weight drained bullshit Green came out with for an excuse , it never seemed to bother him too much in his previous fights .

Superfight! Buster I have read a lot of your posts and you appear to have a keen knowledge of the game so I can only assume you are on the payrole to promote the fight,I,ve been watching the game since the late 40,s
that doesnot make me an expert, but all I can see is a con job, good luck to the pair of them, but on their last performances they would be lucky to get the main event at the local pub,and I am one Aussie that is not looking forward to it, if St George are not playing that day I will probably watch them go around, all the best

I and every fair dinkum fight fan knows this mate but people are saying bragging rights are up for grabs. As I said I disagree but if they convince people to part with money to watch this with the spiel good luck to them. The Jack-DeGale fight and undercard on free this past weekend takes a large dump on this fight and undercard but much more people will watch this and the underwhelming undercard(and pay either PPV or with drinks, meal etc at pub/clubs. Great marketing.

A superfight it is not. But it is a fight that sells itself due to it being contested between two guys who share one of the longest running and highest profile feuds in Australian boxing history.

For the past 10 years the media have willed this fight to happen, going into print with every whisper and rumour along the way, and the public have lapped it up.

Mundine versus Green, that's not a feud!

THAT'S a feud: The torrid ten-bout feud between Ron Richards and Fred Henneberry which lasted from 1931 to 1941 and developed into foul-ridden brawls.

IMO, so publicized 10 year+ feud never was, nor will it ever be. Neither achieved their ambition & so they turned into con artists throughout most of their career, contesting crap titles against duds.......which obviously succeeded.
Whether their con works on this occasion........remains to be seen.

Only those old enough to remember or keen on boxing history - and you can include me in that - even know who Ron Richards and Fred Henneberry were mate.

The current generation - that is the vast majority of the crowd who will turn up in Adelaide and those who will pay the PPV - have never seen or heard of a bigger local boxing rivalry than Mundine - Green.

The Mundine - Green rivalry started about 13 or 14 years ago, as long as a good percentage of boxing fans have even followed the sport. There are many who only took up following boxing on the back of that rivalry. That's why whenever their names have been mentioned on forums over the years things go into overdrive, and why even after all those years the pair still polarize the fans.

Patron,

I was being sarcastic.

its just a fight.

I will watch it at the pub and good luck to the 2 of them.

i'd prefer greeny to win cause he's a class act in and out of the ring.

Hoping mother nature doesn't turn up with vengeance as it did last night (Jan 19) Whilst I've got absolutely no interest in the fight, I'd feel for people that have blown heaps to be there.
Outdoor gigs are & will always be extremely risky.
