It's probably nothing more than Fwank making a good fight, but I did wonder if Liam was on the verge of checking out and moving over to the stable where his brothers are at, hence this match up. I imagine Fwank would want a Liam Williams win...

I'd love to see this fight. I think it would be a proper tear up. Leaning just towards Smith taking it

I said after Liam Williams sparked out Carslaw with a jab that when the time comes for this fight he won't just win but win very convincingly by stoppage.

I have never rated Liam smith at all particulalry his run of opponents after winning the British title. He is the typical Gallagher fighter high guard straight lines good body puncher. But will struggle on the back foot. If Williams pushes him back that's the fight won.

I do think the key difference for Williams is having that Corcoran fight last year. That was ideal preparation for this and a real learning fight for the Welshman. If Williams had not had that fight I would have picked Smith. Shame that fight with Patterson fell through because he would have benefited further. Smith didn't have fights like that at British level. Fought Ochieng which was a good fight matched poorly for years and got smashed by Conelo.

I'm going to ignore this if true. Neither fighter is world class now. Liam Williams may become so Liam Smith never will be.

I'm just going to view this as a really good domestic fight not a 'world title fight' if the sport was the way it should be this would be a proper british or euro title fight.

My guess would be Cardiff , motor point? Liam Williams shifts a lot of tickets . I'm not Welsh but was at Williams vs Cocoran and the place was packed .

Tough fight to call

Gotta give Williams credit his resume is solid, I just hope that if he wins he doesn't go down the Saunders route if stepping down a level

That's what I'm hoping. I was at the Corcoran fight, enjoyable atmosphere (apart from the mini riots ).

The MEN? Unless I'm getting confused, that seems like much too big a venue? Good fight though it is, surely this won't be the headliner?

Flanagan has headlined there before and is on the same card. Then again, Flanagan doesn't sell.

Saunders is having a fight announced soon although you'd think they'd have got that announced today if it was part of these shows. Disappointing really; Williams Smith is a really good domestic fight but the Flanagan/Warrington fights seem very same old, same old.

I think it's being listed as WBO European while they wait for Canelo to vacate
