What's the deal with "racists killed my brother, he was cut in the groin and bled to death" ?

I recall someone arguing he was actually burgling somewhere, was on a roof and fell through some glass (no idea if made up)

But when Nigel talks about it, the story is fast & vague. Was anyone arrested, charged etc? did anyone get named in relation to the murder ?

I suspect Nigel tells a few porkies. He's adapted very well to the professional celebrity role.

remember Benn on a show a few years back where celebs did a one to one with a shrink and Benn said his bro had fallen from a window to his death, the way it was said made it sound like it was an accident

I've watched that show a few times. Very enjoyable. Psychologist was an Irish fella with long hair.

His brother, who he idolised, was at a party & something happened and (in Benns eyes) he was chased across a roof, fell & cut himself on glass.

Who knows what happened? The 70's were a difficult time in the UK, for many reasons. Near where I grew up (in Deptford around 1980) there was a fire at a house party which killed a bunch of people. Racism/arson was always suspected but it turned out it was just a tragic accident. I remember getting the bus on a regular basis past the house & seeing it all burnt up.

It seems a shame that Benn is still holding onto this but what fuels him is what fuels him.

Thanks for the responses guys. It's a peculiar incident, and 'being chased by racists' sounds better than 'he was on a roof in the middle of night and fell through a window'

There WERE a lot of problems with skinheads then but they didn't usually go to the same parties as West Indians.

Seen about 7 interviews over the years with Benn and every time he's getting the same questions (Brother; army; religion)

Whatever happened it is very sad and did/still affects Nigel to this day.

However, no half decent trained journalist should allow such inflammatory comments being made in such a glib manner without delving further.

Note: by "decent trained journalist" I mean someone who spent years learning at university and developing their skills, not some divvy who's mummy bought them a camcorder and gave them enough pocket money so they could dick about without the need to get a proper job.
