Gilbert Eastman gets a surprise shot at Gary Lockett after Ryan Rhodes pulled out of saturdays fight.

Eastman has spent nearly all his career as a lightmiddle or welter the highest he's weighed is 156lbs, Eastman does have nice skills and a decent punch, but i think Lockett will be to strong for him.

I like Eastman and was impressed with the way he beat Spencer Fearon but agree he will be a bit too small for this. Remember when Facey came in heavy against him and Lockett hits a lot harder.

Gilbert can box very well - he has to box Lockett and hope to bust him up.

Gilbert has the height and skills - but may not be strong enough.

When Lockett told me they'd brought in Eastman as a late sub, I nearly creamed in my little Y-fronts. Then he told me it wasn't Howard, it was Gilbert. Bastard did it on purpose! Still should be a good run out for Gary, although I wonder what opposition Gilbert will present? He seems skillful enough, but if Facey can chin him, then Gary certainly can.

I'd love for Gary to get a crack at Howard, as I think he's just about there for the taking these days.

Has to be Lockett. Gilbert's a light middle whose best days were at welter!

Maybe Gilbert can seize his opportunity and come away with credit if he can outbox Lockett for some of the fight, but surely Lockett has to lower the boom on him before the 12 rounds are finished?!

Fair play to Gilbert for stepping in on such short notice. But I don't see him having any chance. Lockett inside 6 rounds.

Yeah it was short notice. Rhodes left eveyone in the shit, and SN really did struggle to find an opponent at short notice.

Is anybody going tonite?? I'll be there supporting Gary. Hopefully we'll be celebrating after.

Gilbert should look on it as a 6 round fight - and look to bust Lockett up early with his greater speed due to being lighter.

Forgot this was on tonight. Pity about the Rhodes pull out, but he saved himself a bad KO loss I think.
I really want to see Lockett finaly get his career going, but he's sometimes a hot & cold performer, so there's a chance an in form Eastman might mess him about.

Looking back, what a terrible match the Kofi Jantuah match was for Eastman. This guy flattened Daniel Santos in his next match.

At middle, Lockett should win this in style.. I hope.

Well, I managed to miss it tonight. Seems it lasted a long time though... Not unexpected with Eastman stepping in so late. Anyone care to fill me in on the details?

It lasted 1 round. 2mins 35 secs to be precise.
Locket stalked a relaxed looking Eastman and then as Gilbert stepped sideways to Locket's right hand side after circling him 'The Rocket' unleashed a big overhand right that cracked Eastman's temple and sent him down heavily through the ropes. As Eastman attempted to get up he fell over again. When he did get up he looked gone and couldn't step forward when prompted by the referee Mickey Vann so it was waved off.
End of story. Locket still hits like a truck.

Great shot on the temple by Lockett that ended it. Don't think he'll ever be good enough for world class - he said so himself - but the European title and even the WBO strap might not be beyond him. He's also a really good talker judging by the post-fight interview, so ITV or Sky should look at giving him a few goes as a pundit someday.

I just watched the fight - Lockett was class from the bell. I got the impression that Eastman just couldn't handle his power - he seemed to be running after he got hit.

In the interview Lockett seemed a really decent bloke - he looked like he comes from scrap and I hope that he does well - would love to see him fight Dann or get a shot a some Europeans.

Really was a top bill last night, Mathew Hall looked great, awesome night for Bradley beating Duran convincingly, happy for Bradley, as he's had a hard career! Rees made hard work of Thorpe but entertained! Barry Jones smashed his guy all over the place, Burke had a barnstormer, not to mention Gary's demolition!!!!

For all you eagle eyed viewers I was sat at ringside, and get my mug all over the TV, jeeeeeeeez I don't know if you saw em on the box, but the girls in between the rounds were pretty awesome too. Spearmint Rhino birds in lycra mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Well done Gary ............ now who's next!?!?!?!?!?!?!

What I meant is that Lockett should drop the belt when he can and go for the British Commonwealth and European.

He s ranked number 48 in the world so I doubt he will EVER be a voluntary for any fighter who holda a World Title..

We all know the Euro belt all but guarantees a top 10 shot.

Fwank will just milk it the way he always does.

As for destroying Richard Williams - not sure about that..

Gilbert was a small light middle with 1 week to prepare.

Certainly, I dont think anybody thinks Eastman was a top drawer opponent. It was all they could manage. However, Gary has been matched alot with people who are not of the same Calibre (ie Gray, Eastman etc), this is not his fault.

Williams however IS of similar pedigree, so a fight between those two would be very competetive. It would be difficult to say for SURE which would win, as it would be a good fight, but I think Lockett has got the goods on Williams.

I'd much rather see Gary hold the European title, than the WBU, but Gary has to ride out the politics and play the game.

Warren is now happy with Gary, he has a high WBO ranking (Officially @#7 in the world, rather than 48 according to BoxRec which is NOT official) so I can't see why the big fights shouldn't start to happen for Gary.

Last night meant alot more than just beating Eastman. Last night was a turing point in Gary's career!!
Gary fell out of fame and favour after the Tsarenko defeat, but now he's back, and ALL the middles around here better watch out!!!!!!!!! Including Williams!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Locket is dangerous - the wbu can easily be dropped - be nice for the british guys to have the Commonwealth and European.

Be nice for Lockett to continue winning - I think he has very good power.

The Middleweight division has a few good match ups now!

Williams - Lockett - Rhodes all ex Light Middles who mayb should have been at Middle 3 year ago.

1) Eastman

2) Williams

=3) Dann - Lockett.
