Wouldn't say he bottled it. He got caught by a couple of big left hands and his legs shot out from under him. And he's been down and got back up against Ajisafe, McKenzie x2 and Makabu, fought with a horrible cut against Bolonti as well. Hardly someone who folds when the going gets tough.

Daffy is as sad as it can be, and probably the biggest bully in the division together with Deontay Wilder.

In my estimation Bellew IS a bully, from what I've seen and heard from him.

He tends to try and force his opinions on others and gets aggressive when people don't agree with him.

There's a video on YouTube of Bellew giving Steve Bunch are a really hard time and refusing to answer his questions.
Why? 2 reasons

1 - Back in 2013, in the week leading up to it, Buncie had picked Adonis Stevenson to win his title defense against Bellew.
- Nothing strange there, Stevenson was the heavy favourite.

2 - After the bout during a post-fight discussion, Buncie asked his fellow pundits the question: "Maybe Tony Bellew isn't World Class"
- which it has to be said, was a fair question considering that this was Bellew's big step up & how he was systematically outboxed & out fought.

Bellew then dragged all of this back up in in 2015 on live radio:

I think Bellew comes across as a top fella, except when he puts that act on to sell a fight. Doesn't look natural and he looks a bit silly, but it must work for him.

Wasn't it said on here that the company he keeps are notorious in Liverpool? I don't know what he's banking on in this fight, or how he's going to talk his way out of it if Haye chins him, but I'm sure he'll have a go.... "Stevenson knocked f1ck out of me, because I was struggling at light heavy, Haye did because I went too high to heavy, but believe me, I'm the best cruiserwieght in the world, I really am".

I like both fighters in this bout.

Haye is a smug, arrogant fella - but I like the bloke.

Bellew is a bit overly intense about himself - but I like the bloke.

The way a fighter acts in the build up to a fight doesn't necessarily mean he's like that in real life. They are going through physical & emotional demands well beyond most of our scope at the workplace.

Add in that 99% of fighters grow up in shite areas & they are bound to know a few dodgy geezers. Part & parcel of the sport.

Just like most people that go to Eton will have a cross-dressing uncle who works in the government

He has a couple of older hangers on who shout ( from safe distances ) at his opponents at weigh ins/head to heads at times.

Suspect they don't fancy being so brave unless they are comfortably removed from the action! It's embarrassing seeing men of a certain age acting like narky 19 year olds. They get their head knocked off if they ventured too close

Exactly that mate it's as predictable as a Camp Eddie press release

I can't believe Haye labelling Bellew a bully has spanned two pages of discussion.

Remember in the press conference with Ovill McKenzie and Ovill goes to the main mouth 'and who are you...?'

And Tony Bellew goes 'It's me dad'

Only ever saw it once but my vague recollection is he started getting hit flush, tried to fight back but just kept getting whacked big. He was on the ropes and on the deck, but my recollection is that Stevenson forced the stoppage.....rather like chess really. It never looked like a “no más” moment to me.

Bullies only pick on those they know are weak & usually fold like newspapers when folk fight back.

Bellew openly says that whoever lands first is gone, so he knows what threat Haye potentially represents & he's still prepared to step up to the plate.
I certainly dont believe its a case of who lands first. I think Haye can take a shot off Bellew but I cant see a way Bellew stays erect if Haye lands even half clean. Haye is a beast of a puncher, no one has done to Del Boy what he did..not vitali, not Helenius, not Whyte etc etc

I dunno if that has anything to do with being a bully or just lacking heart. That would make Ortiz a massive bully

I got the feeling he didn't want to know at the end. He wanted the fight stopped. In contrast to his hard man "I'll die in the ring" act.

The Mckenzie first fight when he went down hard, he seemed to recover quickly enough, his legs actually looked OK when he got up. He wasn't badly hurt, surprisingly. I actually backed him in running after that. He wasn't getting caught by Mckenzies swings after that either. The Stevenson fight was clearly the most he's been hurt and I thought he wanted no more.

I'm comparing him to fighters who have absolutely no quit in them though. The likes of a Eubank for example. Like, say what you want about khan, but he's never ever looked for a way out when hurt. Lewis was the same. I could name many more. Some fighters just don't have any quit in them whatsoever.

I really don't think he had a choice against Stevenson. His legs and balance completely went. If he was in the middle of the ring and went down I think he would have tried to get back up, but because he was sort of held up in the corner Stevenson could pounce straight away so the referee had no choice but to jump in.

I just can't see what Bellew has to trouble Haye. He's not a murderous puncher at cruiserweight and since Haye has been at heavyweight his chin has looked solid enough. I don't think Bellew will have him in trouble even if he does land. Equally I'm 99 per cent sure that Bellew won't be able to take Haye's best shots and he will definitely land them and early on. I can't see this going past 3 rounds and it wouldn't surprise me if Haye takes him out in one.

I remember an incident on here when a respected poster saw Larry O posting on a body building forum under the same name he used on here talking about taking performance enhancing drugs.

Poster duly posted it on here and Bellew went mental, threatening, aggressive etc saying he didn't know what he was talking about, he knows coz he's a fighter etc.

Poster alledegely got a phone call from Bellew the next day and was told in no uncertain terms to delete his posts while alledegely saying he would be coming down with his boys to pay him a visit. I say alledegely as I didn't witness the phone call.

This call kicked off the night of Michell vs Kastidas.

So I'd say Bully.

horndawg80 wrote:David Haye has labelled Tony Bellew a 'bully' and I wonder how much truth there is in this? I don't know Bellew myself and sometimes I like him and sometimes he irritates the hell out of me but I do enjoy watching him fight.

My point is that I've heard (from my best friend's wife's family who are from Liverpool) that Tony was a d**kh**d during his childhood and teenage years and they indicated he used his boxing skills outside of the ring unnecessarily. They also suggested he isn't too well liked in Liverpool but I don't know if that is just hear say.

Anyone add anything to this?
I dont know about being a bully i think he has a short fuse and if someone rubs him up the wrong way i think he wouldnt hesitate to use his fists i.e cleverley press conference, stevenson weigh in and now haye presser just 3 that i can think of
