An evening with John L Gardner
There is an upcoming evening with John L in Northalleton, in North Yorkshire, in April if anyone is interested in meeting John. The admission is free I believe. Not sure on the exact date yet but should be a good evening with john telling boxing stories and about his life (im not sure but I think he was stabbed at somepoint in his adult life)

Ahhhh yes..... I follow a Paul Sykes page, and this guy (whose writing a book on Paul with over 44 interviews from opponents, managers, trainers, etc) has had Gardner come to his house several times to be interviewed and I think he helped arrange this

Good post, thanks. I'm down in Yorkshire at the start of April so I'll miss the night but I would definitely have went if I'd been nearby. Your message led my to look at Gardner's career. He was fighting at a time when I was heavily into my football and had lost a bit of interest in boxing. There's about a dozen questions I'd have asked him if I was going to his night. Why did he never fight again for the British title when he'd 2 notches on a Lonsdale Belt? Fought Jimmy Young and Michael Dokes when they were still at the top/near the top of their game , was he good enough at that level?

Gary Sykes and Wayne Alexander also attending hopefully. My husband is writing the Paul Sykes book and has arranged the evening with John L Gardner night in Northallerton . It is free to attend and proceeds from the raffle are going to The Air Ambulance
