Weaknesses in Beterbiev.

Post by VG_Addict »

Let's play trainer. What weaknesses do you see in Beterbiev? I see that he has a habit of swinging punches. I think a good counter-puncher will give him some trouble.

He's also a bit flat-footed.

He's mostly an inside fighter so a guy that's skilled at keeping him on the outside would give him a lot of problems I'd think.

He's very dangerous.

There's a lot of meat on those bones so taking him to the later rounds would be ideal, he may slow down. Given that he has such a muscular build, and from the fights I've seen he's not fast on his feet. As gilgermesh said he's an inside fighter. I believe his best punches are/would be hooks.

So if you box him on the outside, like Kovalev would try to do, thats your best bet. Don't trade with him in the early rounds. He may get frustrated and start swinging because he has that punchers mentality, he wants to get you out of there. If you're constantly moving away, pot shoting him with jabs and straights, that would be frustrating and tiring for him.

He has a vast amateur career. I regard this highly but that doesn't mean he can automatically outside box at a superior level. I havn't seen his amateur fights but I'm guessing he did what he's doing to the pros now. Maul them with power punches.
