Junior and Super weight classes

Post by PBPALBG »

I have been following boxing since Patterson was champ but can't remember when and how all these junior and super weight classes actually began?

The modern new divisions were mostly constructed in the 60s. Junior and super are pretty much synonymous though, a junior middleweight is a super welterweight, a junior welterweight is a super lightweight. Some came later, like 168 and 200 for instance started in the 80s.

Cruiserweight used to be 190lb, wasn't changed to 200lb until the 2000s.
