Khan v Brook off
Re: Khan v Brook off
Brook has been offered a guaranteed £5 million for this fight.. Stop the talking about % they just don't matter.. £5 million guarantee £2 million more than he got for fighting GGG... People keep making excuses its simple for Khan's team he has a mega fight end of the year.. He can take an easier fight before hand. He wants to earn what he feels is rights £9 million he made against Canelo compared to Brooks £2.2 million v GGG.. If Brook is making double why shouldn't Khan?

Re: Khan v Brook off
Why is Khan deemed to be in such a strong negotiating position? He hasn't beaten anybody for years and has been levelled by fighters seemingly worse than himself.
Just because he talks like he is at the elite level it doesn't mean he is! They both got beat in their last step up fights but even then, Kell lost to the better fighter and in 'better' fashion. He put it on GGG for a bit whereas Canelo never looked uncomfortable at any moment.
Khan is a part time celebrity boxer these days. He won't risk anything. The sport can do without such attitudes. Shame really because when in the ring, his courage can't be denied.
Brook also don't come away from this whiter than white. He's fought far too much crap for a man of his talent. It's a shame but I think we'll never see what he could have been. We have only had glimpses.

Knocked out by fighters seemingly worse than him? One, Briedis Prescott. Garcia and Canelo are better surely? If only Brook went near fighters like that. Garcia was a unification fight he chose to take! You can slag Khan off all you want but he's proven himself to be far more game a fighter than Brook ever has.
Khan actually won rounds against Canelo, Brook made himself a slight nuisance while GGG got warmed up and wanted out as soon as possible.

And why did the GGG/Brook fight get made? A knee-jerk reaction to the Khan/Canelo fight getting made.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:lillywhite14 wrote:Why is Khan deemed to be in such a strong negotiating position? Khan made the headlines moving up 2 weight classes to face a MW. Brook and Hearn saw the press and simply copied the move
Would the Brook/GGG fight have happened without the Khan/Canelo fight? I highly doubt it.
Brook is a step behind Khan on every level exposure-wise. His pay packet should reflect that...
Re: Khan v Brook off
He was up 2 rounds on one, level on the other two.
I had a good seat fight, and I can certainly see why a judge might have given Kell a round or two, but GGG was in complete control of the fight.

Re: Khan v Brook off
I don't know if it wouldn't have got made without Khan-Canelo but I still don't see why Brook fought Golovkin. He literally had no chance, I don't see why they did it. Brook had options, and big fights at welterweight. There is no one in the division I think is significantly stronger than Brook, I don't see why he didn't chase a big unification fight there, GGG really didn't do anything for him other than raise his bank balance. Moving to 154 is dangerous too as it's a very strong division and I don't see what they'll do there.wesshaw1985 wrote:And why did the GGG/Brook fight get made? MD yes. Golovkin was never in any bother. Brook looked great in spurts, but I just don't see why they did it. It was a hiding to nothing.Loynesy wrote:He was up 2 rounds on one, level on the other two.

I dont know why he would have even considered jumping 2 weight divisions to fight GGG had he not felt it necessary to counteract the hype Khan was getting by doing the same to face Canelo.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:I don't know if it wouldn't have got made without Khan-Canelo but I still don't see why Brook fought Golovkin. Re: Khan v Brook off
I want Brook to fight Khan but I wouldn't pander to Khan's delusions or arrogance. I'd like to see Brock take on Spence. Eddie clearly doesn't fancy the Spence fight tho.wesshaw1985 wrote:If you were Brook and you would ignore Khan, who would you face next?liamlion wrote:...50-50 split then!wesshaw1985 wrote: Brook got dominated and stopped by GGG. Ps Kell is undefeated outside of the middleweight divsion and is currently a world champion.
If i was Brock, id feck Khan off. He is a greedy deluded little man. He is a chinless wonder and a fight against any of the champions at 147 lbs would be suicide for him. He should stay semi-retired. At least Brook would be competitive against the other champions and has a meaningful career outside of Khan.
Re: Khan v Brook off
Agree i don't think Eddie really has much confidence in Brook ,, He certainly does'nt seem to want to take on Spence , his big plans are based on Khan , I can see the logic a ko win over Khan will boost his profile , and make the Spence fight worth a lot more money that would be 2 decent ppv's Eddie would control ,, Stumbling block is Khan and his management obviuosly know this and want a big payday , which has i said before a ko win to Brook = higher international profile and a big step up the ladder , a Ko loss for Khan means he's not slipped he's fell off the ladderliamlion wrote:I want Brook to fight Khan but I wouldn't pander to Khan's delusions or arrogance. I actually think Khan is better than Garcia in virtually every department. Obviously there's one or two very important areas where Khan isn't better!TheDarkDestroyer wrote:lillywhite14 wrote:Why is Khan deemed to be in such a strong negotiating position? I rate Khan highly, and he has as much courage as anyone in the ring but his out of the ring attitude annoys me I guess.

Golovkin was really sloppy against Brook, he didn't bother using his skills at all, just started out looking for a big spectacular shot as he knew Brook couldn't hurt him. As soon as Golovkin decided to settle down a bit, it just turned into a beating.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:MD yes. Golovkin was never in any bother. He is effectively paying Khan to take his name. And no doubt Khan will want a rematch so then Kell can hold Amirs feet to the fire.
50/50 isn't realistic...

Maybe Khan/Brook can be our version of Mayweather/Pacquiao where we can have endless threads about who ducking who before both guys finally meet about 6 years down the line in a cash out job when both are on the slide
Re: Khan v Brook off
There is a fine line between 'getting the best deal' and 'not wanting the fight' - and Khan is well over that line and hiding behind a bush !
I don't forecast it ever happening ever.

Most irrelevant cards of Brooks career, he was never going to last the distance and it remains to be seen how much that beating has taken away from him.
