BJS would duck Lara. If Lara wanted to fight GGG, he needed to try getting the WBA paper belt from Jacobs. Too late now.

Considering Team GGG are the proverbial A-side, Lara has called Golovkin multiple times, coupled with the fact that Loeffler is good friends with DeCubas Jr, as well as Gennady's alleged difficulties in obtaining decent opponents, K2 should simply test the waters by making an offer to Erislandy & Haymon.
Tom Loeffler has been well aware of Lara wanting the GGG fight for well over 18 months, but they've never offered him the bout (as per an interview on Dontae's YouTube channel).
After engaging in the Brook fight, Team GGG cannot possibly claim that Lara is too small to be considered a viable opponent.

Brook fight brought GGG his biggest payday. What does Lara bring to the table. After flattening him, Golovkin will get no credit -- another blown up JMW.Enlightened-One wrote: After engaging in the Brook fight, Team GGG cannot possibly claim that Lara is too small to be considered a viable opponent.

I don't think anyone wants Lara.boxing_rocks wrote:BJS would duck Lara. If Lara wanted to fight GGG, he needed to try getting the WBA paper belt from Jacobs. Too late now.
He represents the perfect excuse for avoiding a fighter, the combination of high risk and low reward.
At Middleweight he completes the holy trinity, because you wouldn't even get credit for beating him from the "real boxing fans" because it would just be written off as beating a gunshy, blown up LMW who hadn't faced a real challenge in 3 years
The only plus point would be that he is unlikely to break your fornicating eye socket with a punch
PS anyone that wants to watch BJS vs Lara is a masochist

I was referring to Lara's physical size, not commercially popularity.boxing_rocks wrote:Brook fight brought GGG his biggest payday. What does Lara bring to the table. Loeffler had previously dismissed him as being physically too small for Golovkin... and it's my assumption that he has since revised this opinion, based on the Brook fight.
I don't know the commercials, so I won't assume financial viability based on guesses, but regardless... I believe that a victory over Lara would be a bigger achievement for GGG than many of the contenders he has previously defeated.

Lara is a great fighter
But he doesn't want to take on ggg he'd get beat from pillar to post

Yep I want to see Lara v BJS and go for Jacobs as a barometer fight assuming GGG beats him of coursedavie wrote:I don't think anyone wants Lara.boxing_rocks wrote:BJS would duck Lara. If Lara wanted to fight GGG, he needed to try getting the WBA paper belt from Jacobs. Too late now.

Lara gets KTFO by Lemieux or Stevens. He's only chasing money.
Why not test himself first against Lemieux/Stevens winner , CEJ or Hassan N'dam ? Any win over one of these guys would be a solid win and GGG may fight him.

Three of Lara's last four opponents were poor (WTF at shot Yuri Foreman), hed already fought the one who was decent, and there's nothing exciting scheduled for him. Whatever the reasons for good fights not happening, his career has gotten pretty boring......

You can't "just" fight a Haymon fighter. It takes a lot of time to negotiate even in a mandatory situation. Golovkin is getting old and is chasing better options, so he doesn't have time to waste.Horse wrote:Why doesn't Golovkin just fight him?apollo creed wrote:Lara gets KTFO by Lemieux or Stevens. He should enter negotiations and if Lara's side make it impossible then at least he can say he tried.boxing_rocks wrote:You can't "just" fight a Haymon fighter. Unless Golovkin actually fights the better options then that talk is no excuse for not fighting Lara.
People mock Alvarez for ducking Golovkin, but Golovkin seems to get a free pass when he chooses to duck good opposition.

I guess if you are that dumb comparing Canelo vs Golovkin situation with Golovkin vs Lara one, there is no point for a further discussion.Horse wrote:He should enter negotiations and if Lara's side make it impossible then at least he can say he tried.boxing_rocks wrote:You can't "just" fight a Haymon fighter. Golovkin is scared.

Is Lara ducking top fighters now too? Why shot Yuri Foreman, repeat opponents, and recycled mediocrity like Delvin Rodriguez? His welterweight was also far worse and much smaller than Brook, and couldnt win a round against Thurman years ago.
Lara needs to move on and step back up

All I know is Yuri Foreman's shorts were really high and his legs did the funky chicken at the end.
Lara was in good shape and it looks good for him on the numbers but there wasn't much of a threat in front of Erislandy.
It seemed like a feeble attempt to get some recognition.

Wow, "dumb" was way too soft of evaluation of your mental abilities. Imbecile seems more appropriate,Horse wrote:A duck is a duck.boxing_rocks wrote:I guess if you are that dumb comparing Canelo vs Golovkin situation with Golovkin vs Lara one, there is no point for a further discussion.

ggg would flatten him bad inside 5 rounds.

I would be very interested in GGG vs Lara. Lara spouts off a lot and GGG should take the challenge to shut him up. One thing you have to admit is that Lara would be by far GGG's most elusive opponent. I think Canelo was able to hit Lara in the head only about 6 times if I remember right. He runs, yes, but the clash of styles would be interesting. It would also be great to see if GGG could catch him and shut Lara's mouth.
Since GGG fought Brook, who currently fights a weight at welter, he should fight Lara. Lara is much better than Brook, imo. GGG could use it as a tune up to keep busy. Lara takes fights like that because he wants to keep busy.

Whilst I think that Gennady Golovkin is the “real deal” talent wise, his resume is lacking quality names… and a defeat over Erislandy Lara could help address that.
Even though GGG would once again be facing yet another smaller opponent, Erislandy Lara, which may make him vulnerable to receiving criticism from the mainstream casuals, the Cuban is a vastly superior opponent than Kell Brook and far more accomplished than Danny Jacobs.
If you review Golovkin’s resume since 2010, it’s hard to envisage any of GGG’s world title fight opponents (based on their abilities at the time they shared the ring with the Kazakh puncher) being able to defeat Erislandy Lara.
A potential GGG-Lara fight could play out in a similar manner, though far more competitive, than Golovkin’s bout against Willie Monroe Jr., which I thoroughly enjoyed.
So I’d personally love to see Gennady Golovkin fight Erislandy Lara.
