The most popular non-Mexican active boxer in Mexico ?
The most popular non-Mexican active boxer in Mexico ?
I have never been to Mexico, I have never meet a Mexican in my life, but, I am sure that this is the best country (maybe, except UK) for boxing fans and for boxing generally. What do you think which active fighter (non-Mexican) could be the most popular (beloved) boxer in Mexico right now ?

I live a few miles from the Mexican border and most of my boxing buddies are Mexican/Mex-American. I would have to say GGG because of his take-no-prisoners style, body punching and KO power. That's why 3 of Golovkin's last 6 fights have been in SoCal since GGG definitely draws a sizable live crowd of Mexican fans. He never even fought there before the Rubio fight (Oct 2014) but now that promoters have seen he can draw a good live crowd there you can expect to see him fight there fairly regular.ValMar wrote:I have never been to Mexico, I have never meet a Mexican in my life, but, I am sure that this is the best country (maybe, except UK) for boxing fans and for boxing generally. It's not a coincidence that the left hook to the liver is referred to as the "Mexican left hook" because Mexican fighters have perfected it and use it more than any other nationality, although it is popular among many fighters around the globe.

Chocolatito Gonzalez is very popular among Mexican fans too...great style and even looks Mexican. No coincidence that he was on the undercard of GGG's last 2 SoCal bouts & he is also on the March 18 PPV even though it's in NYC.

I don't know you well enough to make such a diagnosis.ValMar wrote:Asperger ??Enlightened-One wrote:I too have often considered a similar conundrum...

However, since people with Asperger's syndrome are of average, or above average, intelligence and often excel at learning facts and figures, I suspect that you don't suffer from this condition, since it's abundantly clear that none of those attributes relate to yourself.

OK, I don't want to argue...
Excuse me, I didn't want to be unpolite.

I am a Brit living in Mexico. Outside of Mexico City they do not know a lot compared to the average Brit when you try and talk boxing. GGG is probably the most well known current boxer.
