Dejan Zlaticanin vs Mikey Garcia

Post by handsofstone »

Garcia looking to become a 3 weight world champ this weekend, good to see him finally back in the big time, ive no doubt he'd already be a 3/4 weight champ by now if not for the inactivity, he's a class act with some excellent wins like Salido,Martinez,Lopez etc and i'd imagine he's got a bit too much of everything for Zlaticanin who although a very good fighter in his own right, is a probably a bit too basic for someone with Garcia's skillset, apart from continuesly marching forward,Zlat has a tendency to just throw big left hands

Zlaticanin is strong and relentless though and a southpaw which is never ideal for opponents,he's went on to gain a bit of respect from the boxing world since beating Burns which at the time looked like a bad loss for Ricky despite Zlaticanin being unbeaten going in, he destroyed Redkach and last time he just walked through Mamani to win the title

As much as I like Zlaticanin though I just cant see Garcia losing to him unless Dejan's natural size and aggression can wear Mikey down but i'll go for Garcia on points

I'm genuinely intrigued by this fight, probably just favouring Garcia 60/40, really looking forward to it!

I can see Garcia really looking good in this. Probably going to look stupid afterwards but I'm going with Garcia mid rounds KO

I think Garcia will box his head off and win wide on points.

This mirrors my thoughts 100%.

Like Zlaticanin, really rate him but Garcia is a bit special when he wants to be.

Be interesting to see how the lay off has affected him. If he'd taken this while active, I'd have made this a 90/10 type fight but I've got it closer to 60/40 now and that's supposing the lay off hasn't harmed him

Zlaticanin's no mug. I think he'll keep Garcia earnest. I wonder if Garcia's inactivity is going to hurt him.

We shall soon see, Zlaticanin hasn't been the most active fighter either himself

Really impressed by garcia how he controlled the distance and fought intelligently and the finish at the end was something else.no one at lightweight can touch this guy.

Mikey is a P4P fighter who probably beats all current lightweights and junior welterweights apart from Crawford. Tonight he very clearly showed the difference between an elite fighter and merely a solid fighter; Zlat is no stiff, and his wins over Burns and Petrov are respectable, but that was a massacre.

Linares and Crolla aren't on his level, regardless of who has what belt--even if it's the suddenly revered WBC Diamond version!

Surprised anyone gave Zlaticanin a chance tbh, I said as soon as it was announced that Garcia would outclass him. Totally different levels. Garcia has always looked pretty special to me.
