You reckon? Better make their minds up quick, this long running saga is wearing thin.

Witter has looked vunerable of late, so maybe better late than never.

Either of those two would be a damn sight better than some of the other names they've been throwing out - hope so...

poor post.

Hatton is scared of Witter and his style.
1. Why is this a poor post, as if Hatton-Witter does indeed happen, this post would be justified etc.

2. Hatton is NOT scared of Witter, & I hope it is Witter he fights next. Junior gives it all the mouth, talk etc. We'll see how cocky he is if he does fight Hatton.

I reckon there is real possibility of witter being Hatton's next opponent. I mean, the saga of just who is Ricky's next opponent will be has been going on for a some time.

With all the names that have been mentioned as possible opponents, I do not see why Junior Witter is more of a remote chance of fighting Hatton than any of the others?

Hatton would destroy Witter, IMO!

I really hope this match will be made but I doubt it will be in may, and it makes no sense to stage it in the US.

1. If it was going to happen, it would have happened. It will never happen thanks to Hatton. So this is a poor post.

2. Why not fight him then? Witter called him out for the past 6 years. Hatton put his tail between his legs.

3. If Hattn would destroy Witter so easily, why not do it over the past 6 years and prove you are the best in your own country. Witter is the british champion, not Hatton.

Team Hatton have said on their own forum theres no way they'll ever give Witter the payday. Bitch move imo. And yes Hatton-Witter would be in the UK not the US. Whoever it is isn't going to be a real fight as they'e only going to give them 6-8weeks notice so its exhibition stuff.

Ricky isn't scared but he doesnt want hard fights either.

Ok, valid point, fair play to you. However, Ricky Hatton is the champion, the MAN @ 140lbs. He beat Kostya Tszyu fair and sqaure. Tszyu was regarded as the best @ Light-Welterweight B4 he fought Hatton.

Until Ricky is defeated, he's the MAN @ 140lbs, no matter what title he does/does not hold, and no matter who else beats who etc.

Some fair points raised in this one. Witter the British champ and Hatton the world champ yet they haven't fought despite the fact that it should have already happened

And here I was, thinking that Britain could still be relied upon to some degree at least, to hold true to the tradition of local, regional, national, Commonwealth/European, world title chronology of days gone by

"The MAN" at 140 pounds is looking for a fight against Rabah and then Gatti. I thought the Maussa fight was his easy fight before a big one? Seems like, "The MAN" would rather fight against the Rabahs and Gattis than take real challenges.

didn't witter turn down a wbo title fight vs kelson pinto, leaving an exasperated warren to wash his hands of witter a few years ago?

Witter injured his hand and called off the fight. he didn't "turn it down" as it was scheduled.

I don't think he was scared of Pinto since he took Judah on at 9 days notice.

He also turned down a fight with Cotto although that was on short notice and Ricardo Torres took his place and nearly had Cotto out of there.

First of all he didn't "turn down the fight" with Pinto, as I have said earlier.

Secondly, he wasn't approached by team Cotto but said he wouldn't take the fight anyway with 10 days notice so in effect he didn't actually "turn down" that fight either. He probably wouldn't have been approached anyway.

Not taking Cotto on at short notice is sure grounds to criticise a fighter

I didn't criticise, I said "although that was on short notice" acknowleding the situation. Anyway it'd be a better reason for criticising than you take such as a fighter beating the P4P number 1 of a division brings criticism from you. Get a grip.

You are right, and 'The Man' @ 140lbs should be looking to take on a better quality of opposition than fighters like Rabah, Gatti, etc. Fact is, he's still the man until someone beats him!

I don't consider him "The MAN" at all.

He's not the clear best in the division until he beats Cotto/PBF/Witter.

Pacquaio beat Barerra but was he "The MAN" in that division? No, because Morales and Marquez were better than him at the time (as they proved in the ring). Chris John beat Marquez but is he "The MAN" of the division? I don't think he would beat Morales or Pacman.

"The MAN" of the division has beaten all top contenders and stands alone.

For example, Lennox Lewis was "The MAN" of his division.

Vitali was "The MAN" of his division. Now there is no "The MAN" at heavyweight, not Valuev, not Rahman etc.

Roy Jones was "The MAN" in his division because he was clearly number one at 160 and 168. I believe he was "The MAN" at 175 as well because he would have handled Mickalchewski IMO.

Taylor is not "The MAN" at 160 until he beats Winky Wright IMO. Why? Because a lot of people would take Winky to beat Taylor, myself included.

If being "The MAN" of the division means just beating someone then if Rabah beats Hatton on a cuts stoppage would he be "The MAN" of the division? Keep in mind, he would get a thourough hiding from a majority of 140 pounders?

Hatton is not "The MAN" in my eyes until he establishes himself.

Fighting Maussa/Rabah then Gatti will not do that.

Why Witter? What has Witter done to warrant having to beat him to be declared The Man. Witter lost against his only ever world class opponent and has been on the slide in his recent fights, he's just another Light Welterweight contender at this stage of his career who will become the new Howard Eastman. Witter has never threatened to be The Man himself thus should not have to be beaten for one to declare himself the man.

As for Floyd, well he's a division above now isn't he? That then leaves Cotto who holds the least prestigious of the main belts and will probably move up if he keeps struggling to make weight and has looked very fragile in recent fights.

Cotto is pretty much the only one who could make a rival claim but there will always be people who have potential below The Man, doesn't mean they are The Man. Cotto has yet to beat anyone of World Class level.
