My oppinion

Post by Jip »

i want everybody to be a bit more open minded. most of the people in hear are so smugish, unrealistic and deadlocked to their oppinion.

"only boxers from the past can be considered amongs the best ever"

is just one of so many stupiditys i read in what is supposed to be the #1 box forum in the world. we should be an elite, who know boxing, who know who the best is, which the best match ups are and have the same oppinion and defensive minded boxer being banned from boxing for boring out the crowd.

thank you

A pretty reasonable opinion to me. Exclude boxers from all time rankings untill you have all the information about the, or in other words their career is over.

Jip, nice post & I am not trying to be horrible but it's OPINION. One P.

Apart from that I agree with much of what you said although we should hold fighters of the past to higher standards as there were less weight divisions and more fighters so they generally had a better standard of opposition.

This isn't to say a Mayweather wouldn't have been a great fighter in a bygone age, just that his career may have been a tad different. Or maybe not. :maybe:

Anyway, keep the faith with the sport & don't take anyone too seriously on here :TU:

you are very nice tanseend, you make sense.

concerning different times in boxing. back than it wasnt easy, today it aint easy.

back than u had less weight division, but today you have better training and nutrition plans, meaning boxers are physicly better prepared and at the top you realy get your ass kicked. i dont care what division you are in, but imagine you are a proffesional boxer today, lets say at light heavyweight, dont tell me it would have been easier in the past, today with those monsters bert, kov, 6'2 gvoz, you get your ass kicked today. boxer simply better prepared, training science everything evolved. having a good record today is very hard. also lets not forget most top boxer fight in many divisions. loma got up in weight, canelo fights at 154 and later middleweight, all iam saying is boxer from today also take many risks.

i am relaxed, i just want people to have the same opinion as i have, cause mine is the best and i want the best for everybody.

I don't think there are many, if any, here who would agree with the statement that only boxers from the past can be considered among the best ever. I would say that it is harder for modern day boxers to become true greats of the sport, because today they fight less often and the best often avoid each other, particularly when they are in their prime. Golovkin may well be the best middleweight ever, but BoxRec currently rates him as the 76th greatest due to his relatively low standard of competition, which largely, isn't his fault.

I can't say I agree with defensive minded boxers being banned, but I would like to see referees being stricter with excessive clinching.

TBH I think the first 'i' is redundant too, so the correct spelling should really be 'onion'. There are already lots of words in the English language with the same spelling, why not make one more of them? Disagree with me? That's like, your onion, man.
