Throughout this video the narrative is "Kell Brook will be getting his biggest pay day in his career, and we're happy to give him that" - Asif Vali
Now imagine you gave that a roll reverse; 'Amir Khan will be getting his biggest pay day in his career, and we're happy to give him that' - Eddie Hearn
They're both stepping into their best potential pay day, so to put all the emphasis on Kell seems a little bit obvious. "Don't worry about what the guy on the other side of the ring is getting, just worry about what you're getting, which is the biggest pay day he'll ever get". Again, rolls reversed. It's pretty obvious the way they're angling it. If the projected numbers give you a net lump sum, and 30% of that lump goes to Kell, it's a 70-30 split.
When you talk about who the A side is, and who the B side is, in terms of global exposure, Khan is, no doubt about it. But let's look at the logistics here. This fight is happening in the UK, it would be brainless to have it in the US. Sky Sports are the leading name in PPV boxing events here, which Matchroom, run by Eddie Hearn, are in association with. Both Brook and Khan are coming off the back of massive defeats to global superstars, with Kell's fight being on prime time PPV in the UK. Kell Brook and Eddie Hearn still hold quite a lot of the cards, and it is incredibly naive to believe that Khan will bring 70% of the money to the pile.
There's clearly something in the negotiations which both promoters are not telling the cameras. As Hearn said, Frampton, Quigg, Bellew, Haye all had to take a hit on the cut to get the fight through, this should be no different.
