The silence of Ward vs Krusher 2 is defeaning
Kathy Duva originally said she wanted it for April - we know Krusher wants it asap - Ward obviously is the obstacle - any word on the latest? the silence of all parties is not a good sign -

Re: The silence of Ward vs Krusher 2 is defeaning
Do you actually know what has been agreed between both parties?montrealsuper wrote:Kathy Duva originally said she wanted it for April - we know Krusher wants it asap - Ward obviously is the obstacle - any word on the latest? the silence of all parties is not a good sign -
At first, Kathy Duva stated that contract negotiations weren't required, since all the terms of the rematch were already agreed to and signed for.
Now she's saying that she's asked Roc Nation to start negotiations, but they have yet to respond.
So it seems that Kathy is not telling the entire truth because at least one of her claims was false or very poorly articulated to the media.
Meanwhile, Roc Nation claims that they only ever agreed to initiate contract negotiations for the rematch after the holidays. They also expect to negotiate more favourable terms, because their fighter is now the champ.
In terms of people naïvely claiming that Andre Ward is the obstacle, how can anyone say this with any certainty since the contract negotiations have either not taken place yet or are being performed under a gagging order?
Re: The silence of Ward vs Krusher 2 is defeaning
Did you not get the memo? Andre Ward is responsible for so many awful things its downright absurd he's out free walking the streets. If his shoe squeaked these jackals would crucify him, so of course every point of contention would be seen as his fault. Because the crybaby section didn't get their way, not even close actually they were dead wrong. Even if he got didn't get the decision he still proved Kovalev is far from a complete fighte, got beat by a light puncher coming up in weight. I hope they fight again so the same result ends any doubt.

Only idiots don't understand what an obstacle here is. One side says that he is ready to fight now, the other one says that he needs the rematch to "make sense" or he will retire. The Son of Judges pretends that there is no a clear rematch close in the contract. Of course for him, it wouldn't be the first time he violates a contract. Nothing new.

One side says that they want to fight Stevenson fight now, the other one says to Kovalev, let’s go to purse bids, Sergey then pulls out of the fight?boxing_rocks wrote:Only idiots don't understand what an obstacle here is. You see what I’m doing here? I’m questioning the authenticity of Kathy Duva’s claims, since she’s hardly a bastion of truth, is she?

You know she meant the basic terms of the contract were agreed to. But they still need to find a date, venue etc for the rematch.

I wasn’t being disingenuous, since my post covered both possibilities, but you refrained from recognising one of them. Kind of Kathy Duva-esque, don’t you think?Freedom2013 wrote:You're being disingenuous.Enlightened-One wrote:At first, Kathy Duva stated that contract negotiations weren't required, since all the terms of the rematch were already agreed to and signed for.

Here are Kathy’s actual words on the matter:
"The terms for the rematch was negotiated when Ward was given the opportunity to fight for three titles. You make concessions when you get the opportunity, so all the terms for the rematch between Main Events and Roc Nation were negotiated at that time.”

Is there a worse ambassador for the sport than Andre Ward?
Everything, and I mean everything, has difficulty surrounding it when it involves the name Andre Ward.

I see that you have an agenda comparing very different situations. There is already a rematch close in a signed contract, and one side is openly saying that he may not honor it. "Honor" is a word meaning of which is unknown to Ward.Enlightened-One wrote:One side says that they want to fight Stevenson fight now, the other one says to Kovalev, let’s go to purse bids, Sergey then pulls out of the fight?boxing_rocks wrote:Only idiots don't understand what an obstacle here is. I don’t really have an agenda. I was a fan of Kovalev before the Ward bout and still am. I also appreciated Andre’s skills.boxing_rocks wrote:I see that you have an agenda comparing very different situations. That being said, I don’t trust Kathy Duva’s words, because she has a track record of severely embellishing situations or even telling downright lies.
Technically-speaking, the contract stipulates that Ward won’t be able to fight anyone else until he engages in a rematch against Sergey Kovalev. If he chooses to retire, he won’t be acting dishonourably, since he’ll simply be respecting and adhering to the terms of the contractual agreement, which both parties signed.
If Ward chooses to retire, Kathy Duva cannot sue Andre. She’s made that clear.
Simply put: Andre Ward hasn’t done anything that could possibly be regarded as “dishonourable”… yet!
I do wonder a couple of things though… if Andre Ward decides to procrastinate, by delaying his decision, does that mean Sergey Kovalev cannot take an interim bout, because it’ll breach the terms of the immediate rematch clause?
Now that Andre Ward is no longer affiliated to HBO, would he be able to sign for Showtime, forcing Main Events to abandon their legal right to the rematch, since he can still offer Kovalev the fight on HBO's rival network?
There might be a rematch clause in place, but its validity can be undermined using various unscrupulous tactics, if that's the route that Ward, Prince and Roc Nation decide to pursue (assuming the contract doesn't already cater for all scenarios).

Kathy Duva is not a liar and has no history of lying or stretching the truth - You will not post any links to show Duva is a liar because she is not and there are no links to try to claim so - Ward talking about retiring tells it all - he does not want to fight a rematch with Kovalev - Son of judges is not showing any eagerness to get it on with Krusher again - Funny how his fans are trying to cover for his yellowness -

I'll post multiple links proving that Duva exaggerates and also lies. Of course, you'll ignore these, since we play this game regularly.montrealsuper wrote:Kathy Duva is not a liar and has no history of lying or stretching the truth - You will not post any links to show Duva is a liar because she is not and there are no links to try to claim so - Ward talking about retiring tells it all - he does not want to fight a rematch with Kovalev - Son of judges is not showing any eagerness to get it on with Krusher again - Funny how his fans are trying to cover for his yellowness -

Duva and every other promoter either stretch the truth or flat out lie. This is no secret. It's their job. My issue is that one of the fighters has a track record of being difficult with promoters and making sure he has advantages skewed in his favor. The other does not. So, it's his own fault if people automatically throw the blame on him.

Although their fight was fascinating to boxing fans I don't think the casual fan would be that keen on forking out to watch a rematch so maybe financially it just doesn't make sense.
Re: The silence of Ward vs Krusher 2 is defeaning
why having the fight anyway. other fight onvolving ko, bert, gvoz would be much more fun to watch than ward fight.
ward is about to retire, very good.

Duva is not a liar and has no history of lying or fabricating - Ward side and Ward fans just know they need to protect Ward and have to slander Duva - we live in a world of truth and propaganda -
