Povetkin's 'B' sample doping test returns POSITIVE!!

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Former World heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin's 'B' sample doping test has returned positive in the latest controversy in boxing 's premier division.

Traces of ostarine - also known as enobosarm to increase physical stamina and fitness - were confirmed. However, the Russian's promoter Andrey Ryabinsky insisted it was only a 'miniscule' amount detected.

The 37-year-old's WBC interim title bout with Bermane Stiverne was pulled after a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association test from December 6 produced a positive test and despite the setback of the second sample, Ryabinsky is protesting his client's innocence.

"We have the results of alternative tests from another laboratory, the one in Lausanne. The probe samples are clean," Ryabinsky told Russian news agency TASS.

It is the latest chapter of a now dubious career for Povetkin after he initially failed a drugs test for meldonium in the build-up to the subsequently cancelled WBC World heavyweight title shot against American champion Deontay Wilder. A second sample failed to show any traces of the drug to later clear him as a clean athlete.

The Povetkin camp consistently underestimates the thoroughness of these tests. I'm sure he'll pass one somewhere down the line.

The only people saying miniscule amount is the Povetkin camp.

Povetkin is dirty. He deserves a minimum one year ban and removal from WBC ratings permanentently.
He's waisted Wilder's time and money and the WBC time and money.

Everybody on top is dirty, most are just doing a better job hiding it or are not doing VADA. If Povetkin should be banned, then everybody should.

The failed test dated December 6. Tests taken on December 13 and 15 were clean.

Exactly, if he underestimated it he would have been cought all the time, not with a sample that has been taken two weeks before the fight is about to happen and where from the results will be released just before the fight.

I'm sorry but there's no excuse. You test positive in both the A and B sample, you need to be banned. I would say 2 years from the Duhaupas fight.

Personally I would ban him for 6 years considering a second failed test after that failed Melodonium test. But seeming VADA chickened out and didn't follow through with their findings, I'll settle with the 2 years.

Who said they were clean?
Ortiz and Stiverne tested positive. I think they both deserved suspension.
Wilder, Joshua and Klitschko have not tested positive been if and when they do I'll be the first to call for their suspensions also.

The idiots will continue to deny everything even if you'll place video of Ryabinski injecting dope to Povetkin's ass and feeding him meldonium soup and ostarine cake :brick:

It's not a religion, no need to believe...it's matter only who was found positive or negative by lab agreed by parties and sanctioning body. That simple.

That simple? Joshua doesn't do VADA. WBC gives a break to Stiverne and Vargas, but doesn't to Povetkin. VADA also have humans working there who can be biased, blackmailed, bribed, etc.

That simple

Very simple indeed. If AJ's opponent and IBF agrees that he will not get tested - that's their decision and problem/money. As I wrote "agreed by parties and sanction body"...

At Povetkin case, the agreement between parties and WBC was to rely on VADA....their decision - their problem...

No, the keyword is independent, unlike Wada/Vada, who seem to be dependent.

He never failed the meldonium test, he took meldonium when it was allowed, that's all.
50 years ago it was also allowed to drink alcohol as a professional cyclist, Americans are still allowed to use aspirins as far as I know, while that gives pretty much the same results.

The failed test dated December 6. Tests taken on December 13 and 15 were clean.
Is it possible that the test that popped him was a more thorough test? One that was more thorough than the Povetkin team was anticipating?

I see 3 options:
- usual Russian negligence (not thorougly following clearing procedures)
- food contamination
- deliberate poisoning
