Eubank Vs Jamie Cox
Did you hear Eubank says "I don't know who he is?!?" When asked by iFLondon if he fancied fighting Jamie Cox.
I rate Jamie Cox very, very highly and think he has the beating of Groves and Callum Smith but for the life of me I don't understand why he fights once a year (I know about the court case etc).
When is he fighting next and would he beat Jnr?
I doubt he'll leave Frank but Matchroom would be a good move

You're either part of his team, a member of his family or Jamie himself.horndawg80 wrote:Did you hear Eubank says "I don't know who he is?!?" When asked by iFLondon if he fancied fighting Jamie Cox.

Groves and Smith both beat Cox IMO. He's done nothing to suggest otherwise. Mark Heffron would be a nice fight for him. Maybe Rocky Fielding?horndawg80 wrote:Did you hear Eubank says "I don't know who he is?!?" When asked by iFLondon if he fancied fighting Jamie Cox.

Agreed. He's obviously a tough lad with reasonably heavy hands and was a good level amateur but he's been too inactive, has fought at a low level and really hasn't done enough yet to suggest he's not a blown up light middle.
That said I think him and Eubank would be very watchable, I just don't think he's earned it or has the pulling power to get it yet.
Fielding is a good shout, but Groves and Smith would give him kittens in my opinion

Re: Eubank Vs Jamie Cox
should have been DQ'd in his last fight
Re: Eubank Vs Jamie Cox
I agree - he needs to fight a Fielding or a Heffron type before anything else.Stuarty30 wrote:Groves and Smith both beat Cox IMO. He's done nothing to suggest otherwise. Re: Eubank Vs Jamie Cox
The guy he last fought was lost to Jimmy Kelly two weight divisions below. Jimmy I would say is at area/English title level.
You would think if Cox was as good as people have said he would blast an opponent of that standard out.
If he fights an opponent of some level I will take notice. But talk of him threatening the likes of Groves, Eubank etc is just daft.

Dont think he sells many tickets so attracting decent opponents is going to be a problem for his promoters.

Re: Eubank Vs Jamie Cox
Was an interesting article on him in Boxing Monthly this month.
He basically admits he is a wrong un and trying to get his head sorted.
The couple of fights I have seen he has been just about the dirtiest fighter I have seen, and not even cute or clever, just blatant and repeated fouling.
From what I've seen groves and Smith stand him on his head, I'd back fielding against him too.

Few blasts from the past on that card! I remember Greenocks John Simpson got absolutely raped in a decision against Dazzo Williams a good few years back! Disgraceful decision!Kro wrote:It's happened before, we once had TWO on the same bill.Stuarty30 wrote:they could have the most tragic unification fight of all time

Fielding is crap!
I'm not part of Jamie's team but I think he is a great fighter. He really needs to step this up though...
No fight scheduled either. He needs to fight 4 times this year
Mark my words he beats Heffron, Fielding, Blackledge et al with relative ease

He kind of got used to shocking decisions. He dropped Derry Mathews with Derry deducted 2 points and still lost a UD by 7 points on one cardStuarty30 wrote:Few blasts from the past on that card! Cox just seems like a wrong'un. It's those sort that think thay have amazing ability so they don't really have to try as hard. Dedication and temperament are massive parts of success going up the levels, so no, I don't think Cox has a chance against people like Groves or Callum Smith.

He was very lucky not to be thrown out last fight I saw him in.squared circle wrote:Was an interesting article on him in Boxing Monthly this month.

That was another stinker! The first Appleby fight and the two Smith fights could've easily have went his way as well.ShadrachSimmo wrote:He kind of got used to shocking decisions. Couldn't agree more he's somehow avoided disqualification in 2 bouts now he clearly can't keep his emotions in check during a fight and it could lead to his downfall.TheCobra wrote:Cox just seems like a wrong'un. Re: Eubank Vs Jamie Cox
He could do with fighting and beating someone who would get into the domestic top ten for a start. Since he dropped his Commonwealth Light Middle title some years ago he hasn't been matched especially competitively. Blackledge, Cameron or Smyle would do for now.
Re: Eubank Vs Jamie Cox
Isnt he in jail? The last fight he had was with his missus wasnt it
Re: Eubank Vs Jamie Cox
Jamie still hasn't beat anyone at Fieldings level yet! Maybe Cox does beat em but actions speak louder than words. There's always plenty of talk coming from Cox and his team and not much action!horndawg80 wrote:Fielding is crap!

I too once rated Jamie cox very highly, I've since however watched him fight Martin Fidel rios, in which he was useless and embarrassing and should probably have been disqualified, the bottom line is... He will never amount to much purely because of his temperament!
