Andre Ward To Froch: Get Over Your Arrogance, You Sound Bitter!
Andre Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) has reacted to some of the recent statements that were made by retired former world champion Carl Froch.
In a recent interview with BS.com and other reporters, Froch explained why Ward is too dirty of a fighter to receive the pound-for-pound crown over other top fighters like WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko.
In December of 2011, Ward won a twelve round decision over Froch in the final round of the Super Six tournament. Froch and Ward had discussed the idea of a rematch on more than one occasion, but they were never even close to being on the same page with two of the most important terms - the money and the fight location.
In the opinion of Ward, the Nottingham boxer is very bitter and never got over the outcome of their fight. Ward maintains that he won the fight with a broken hand and would have dominated Froch in a lopsided fight if the hand was healthy. "We had a great battle. Carl had a few things to say about why he lost. But when he retired I made a point of saying that he was a great fighter, a real champion, how much I respect him and that he will become a Hall of Famer. I didn’t make too much of how I broke my left hand half way through the fight but still won," Ward told Daily Mail.
"I only ever give praise to elite fighters. It would give Carl a better look if he could do the same. Carl is not the most naturally talented boxer. But I give him huge credit for making the absolute most of his strengths and his courage for doing so. I know that losing that fight eats away at him. If I had been beaten it would eat away at me because like him I am very competitive. But once you go over to broadcasting you have to get over your arrogance. Sounding bitter is not a good look. Less so if you’re retired."

Froch has never been been able to say the better man won (or would win in the case of Calzaghe). You can call it being a competitor and a winner.. or you can call it being an arrogrant prick.

That's what I remember happening.Ward maintains that he won the fight with a broken hand and would have dominated Froch in a lopsided fight if the hand was healthy.

I was watching Andre talk about his win over Kovalev and he claimed that most fans thought he won the fight.... We all have our own version of reality.

He did after he beat Kessler, but he wanted a fight at MGM. The one place he dreamt off. He didn't really chase it though, he mentioned it a after Groves rematch too.Kro wrote:Significantly Carl never chased a rematch with Ward, can't think why?Horse wrote:Rematch!

Ward can't believe that he "beat" Kovalev and nobody gives a fornicate. He's jealous of Froch's popularity, he did beat carl and nobody gives a fornicate. That's a more proper nickname, Andre "Nobody gives a fornicate" Ward.

If I was in Carl Froch's situation and see a Commonwealth, British (Lonsdale Belt outright) 2x WBC, and unified IBF and WBA world championship titles on my resume I would be pretty pleased with myself. So why be bitter in comparison to someone else. Yes Andre Ward was an Olympic Gold Medallist and Froch got a Commonwealth Bronze medal.
Although Andre Ward is jealous as he never got to box in front of 80,000 at Wembley Stadium!!

It was telling that after Froch lost to Ward he fought Bute (who, oddly was considered the number one SMW then despite all the best SMW's being in the super six except him) and Ward fought a weight drained Chad Dawson. I remember what Dawson said before some smart arse chimes in, but Ward should have been fighting Bute not Froch.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Ward can't believe that he "beat" Kovalev and nobody gives a eff. Froch was the man and he'll always be remembered more than ward.TheDarkDestroyer wrote:It was telling that after Froch lost to Ward he fought Bute (who, oddly was considered the number one SMW then despite all the best SMW's being in the super six except him) and Ward fought a weight drained Chad Dawson. Just watched the Froch interview, froch was asked a question about p4p and he answered, and was pretty reasonable about it. It wasn't some unprovoked attack on Ward out of nowhere like you would think reading this from Andre. Plus Froch has stated numerous times that Ward beat him fair and square, has commended his skills and even said that Ward probably won't be beaten. He's said a lot more positive things about Ward than most of Andre's opponents have done.
Ward just loves to bring up other people's perceived 'bad looks'. I guess you have to drag popular fighters into your headlines when you can't draw flies yourself

Ward seems to be oblivious to his unpopularity. Or, maybe it is just an act. He is either brilliantly or unwittingly building the rematch up by cultivating hate.
I have to admit that he very mildly irritates me. But, if he chooses to actually retire for good without a rematch I will respect his decision.
Ward is the picture of a reluctant warrior.
