Who Wins - Chris Eubank Jr v Callum Smith ?

Post by CaptainSpacerod »

With Ronnie Davies saying that he thinks Jr is best suited to the 168 division perhaps he'll stay up at super mid after he's dealt with Quinlan.

I think the potential fights for him at super mid are far more interesting for the public than the constant back and forth will he won't he nonsense with Saunders or empty promises to fight GGG at 160.

Domestically in ascending order of difficulty he could fight Fielding, Callum, Groves and DeGale all of which would sell pretty well I'd imagine.

A fight with Callum would be fascinating - both youngish, highly talented but still unproven, good technical fighters with a bit of spite about them. Smith looks to have a big edge in knockout power that would test whether Jr has inherited his dad's chin but Eubank probably has the edge in speed.

Smith by late knockout would be my prediction.

I'd wonder how durable Smith is. He's clearly a tough kid but he's been matched against average opposition. The height advantage would be pivotal if Smith was disciplined enough to use his jab, but I don't see it, it's a pure war.

Really hard to pick but I went with Eubank for the simple reason that the kid's ego and mentality shines beyond Smith's.

Eubank jr. vs. Paul Smith would be fun.
Could build a potential Callum match for jr.
Also get Paul that undeserved title shot he's been after...

Smith as he's much the bigger man.

Paul Smith has often branded the IBO as not a real belt, be interesting to see if that changes should he get an offer to fight for it

Smith comfortably. Too big and too strong to be bullied up close and I don't think Eubank can fight going backwards.

Callum wins too big and too well schooled might struggle early with unorthodox style

How would that play out in the fight?

He fought one top opponent, someone far smaller and lighter hitting than Smith, and hardly looked full of confidence. I'd be more convinced if he could pull off one of these dominating, arrogant performances against an opponent worth mentioning.

Awesome fight that would be! Regarding the result... Flip a coin, that's how I see it. Both have flaws, both have big positives!

I'd say his base mentality, or ego, won't be budged very easily.

I might change my prediction if it turns out Smith's size makes him destructive towards Eubank's body, but we did see in the past that being hit didn't affect him much, and even losing to Saunders just had him saying he was robbed.

Not impressed with Eubank, a total streak of arrogance will be his undoing. He can play with a tough and durable 11-1-0 fighter, let him play that same game with those evenly matched.

Smith would destroy him in frightening fashion. Eubank wastes shots, burns up energy, flails off balance. Would play right into Callum, big, poised and picks shots well.

This poll was neck and neck a few days ago when I voted for Smith, I think he might even have been behind, now he is in a big lead. Seems as though Eubank's performance last night has swayed opinion against him.

He made rookie errors against Saunders and i don't think he'd repeat them. We haven't seen Smith up against it yet, and i think Eubank vs Smith would be quite evenly matched.

I would be hugely torn on who to support here. I dislike them both and cannot wait to see both of them smashed to shite.

Bith are still to prove themselves the complete article and have a few questions to answer.

I think Eubanks style gives Smith real problems but Smiths power would give Eubank real trouble as Eubank can be hit.
If he inherited Snr's chin Eubank could take a points win.
If not he could get sparked out

Interesting clash of styles and strengths/weaknesses
