A bit pathetic from Ward this is.

If he's going to retire, he should just do it, then Kovalev can try & win back his belts against another opponent, otherwise, just get on with the rematch which is 100% warranted due to the closeness of the first bout.

Ward does himself no favours whatsoever.

He's undoubtedly a great fighter, but the last five years of his career have been a slow crawl & he's just going to alienate the fans even more with this behaviour.

You're probably spot on. He'll "retire" just long enough to get out of the rematch and then come back.
I don't know. I think he doesn't like to box, so unless he is short of money, he will stay retired.
:OhYes: Ward is a smart person. He values his god, family, and health. Boxing was a means to provide for his family. He seems like a frugal person who is calculating whether rematching Krusher warrants the risk to his health.

Ward may be irritating on a number of levels but he has navigated this dangerous profession expertly.
Yep, in the last few years he has been paid money he didn't earn.
