Eubank Post Fight Shindig

Post by TheGingerBomber »

It's on iFL. Found it quite entertaining.

It's gotta be said even though they're not everyone's cup of tea, the Eubanks are great to watch.

I'm still split about them, I like Jnr's fight style, but I think he's lacking a jab and KO power.

I'm mostly sick of Snr but his latest tirades against the evil promoters is somewhat valid and very funny.

I just hope in the future their ridiculous egos don't stop potential legendary fights! For instance Degale vs Eubank Jnr could be a spectacle!

It'd be a lesser place without Snr. It's a shame Knr lacks that killer power.

Snr is cranky fella but he was my boxing hero when I was a little kid. Have a massive soft spot for him. His boys don't have a tenth of the charisma or charm.

Senior, take away all the theatrics, made a great point in the IFL video (9mins55secs).
To the Eubanks it is more important to have a small piece of their own thing rather than have a large piece of somebody elses.
Love them or hate them that's an admirable mentality to have.
They've grown on me, I must admit...

Eubank Jr isn't the hardest punching fighter out there but it doesn't seem to matter because he's getting the guys out of there in the end, he's stopped some durable guys

There's an area of grey where the Eubank's operate.

I have to say that Eubank seemed to get better as the fight went on - his workrate is admirable, doesn't seem to tire at all - but there was very little coming back from his opponent, who was slow and predcitable.

I don't think Jr has the skills to get to the very top, but I think he has a winning mentality, the BJS fight came a little early for him perhaps, and was a bad style match up.

If he can start using the jab right from the off in fights, and focus on putting his punches together, rather than looking for big shots, he's going to be a lot harder to beat.

I enjoy watching him fight, looking forward to the rest of his career.

Cant be many fighters as mentally strong as him either, he oozes self belief, I liked the way how he kept his composure in the build up to the O'Sullivan fight, its just as well he's mentally strong because he takes his fair share of flak but he seems to feed off it

What he's managed to do is very admirable. When I found out they were doing a PPV show vs this opponent at this venue I immediately thought it would bomb.

But the venue looked nigh on full albeit it wasn't a huge venue and like Iv said I reckon it will have done good enough buys on ppv to be profitable.

Yes, he does indeed. He also seems to have a good chin, which will make up for some of his technical failings. I can't see him cutting it at the very top, but I think he's capable of winning one of the big 3 belts if he's in against the right belt holder.

Golovkin would eat him up no trouble, it would be a fearful beating, and I think Jr's chin would make it worse.

There are lads on my Facebook and they are absolutely obssesed with the Eubanks , last night they were posting every half hour ripping the show to bits. Even in the build up just moaning non stop. It got to the point of bizarre last night.

I can't work out why? I get it that these shows being PPV is a piss take, I feel the same but they post anti Eubank comments from FW saying stuff like " Frank warrens the man " or " Eddie Hearn is spot on yet again ".

They treat the fighters like football teams, rather than wanting to see the good match ups they are just so Anti Eubank and pro BJS , I find it kinda strange as they don't know either bloke personally .

I'm a Eubank fan tbh , I like his style and I'm loving the shit they are causing right now, it's halarious watching FW nearly having a heart attack on IFL talking about them . Sometimes they make me cringe, sometimes they are funny. But most important it's the way they conduct themselves in the ring and who ever Jr is up against he always puts on a show.

Like most people I meet I can see good and bad in what they are doing.

Why do Eubanks divide opinion so much? I just want to see the decent fights.

It could make a difference against opponents he cant repeatedly tee off on with loaded up shots. Will he struggle to get their respect if he's just landing now and then with ones and twos? Guys like Chud, Spike, and Quinlan arent very relevant on the world scene, and I think a lot of fighters couldve gotten them out earlier. Also, are these guys really that durable? What is there to go by other than the Eubank fights?

Moreover, all this fawning over his confidence seems a bit strange to me; he faced one top 10 opponent and hardly looked brimming with self belief. It would be far more meaningful if he showed this supposedly great mental strength against opponents worth mentioning, rather than Gary O'Sullivan and a huge underdog with 11 wins.

He was back in the gym Sunday morning.
JR is dedicated to the sport and a gym rat which will help in the long run.

Ive gotta disagree regarding Eubank's confidence, IMO he looks one of the most self assured fighters on the British circuit, i'd put the Saunders performance down to temprement, lack of a real boxing IQ and arrogance, I wouldn't say Jr had stage fright

Eubank's Jr's strengths are he's an all round athlete, looks super fit, one of those guys who could probably turn his hand at anything and succeed,he looks tough as well and as I mentioned above his self belief is through the roof

On the other hand, I don't think he has the best boxing brain or even has the basics nailed down, the strengths I mentioned above are probably hindering him learning his craft more, we've all seen him through the toys out of the pram with his corner when things aren't going as planned, he's too much of an ego to accept he still has to improve, his jab especially is non existent, so far he's been able to just steamroll opponents so I imagine he feels he's the finished article and can do that to anyone, he hasn't got much of a plan B apart from go walk about posturing like his dad

People keep saying his power is overrated but everyone who posts about him mentions his lack of power so i'd say its anything but overrated, OK he's not one punch KO artist but he's strong and so far these guys are struggling to keep him off, if he was that feather fisted, they would fight fire with fire, I think his speed surprises opponents, as for his opponents when he steps up, of course it wont be as plain sailing as it has been now but if he put they guys under a barrage the same way as he's doing now, it will be stopped regardless if they go down or not, people might underestimate his power but you cant underestimate the fact that when he turns the screw, he's fast and accurate and a good finisher

I didn't buy, went out. Almost forgot it was on, but then checked the result when I got in.

Just my opinion, but I find them a bit irrelevant at the minute. What's the point in looking good against nobodies, if they're going to wet themselves when fighters of GGG's standard offer them a contract.

I think a lot of people think like you mate, but majority also can't wait to see what happens next.

And everyone hopes he'll make these big fights despite his irrelevance.

Their name and antics are making them stars, where as fantastic young fighters like Selby, Taylor and the allegedly bunched that are under promoted are wandering unknown to the public.
