I think the idea of a couple of free shows on terrestrial tele would have worked better. But this has probably done more for him, than say slowly building a resume against the Artur Akavovs of this world on allegedly in front of a packed Paisley leisure centre. Bare in mind, BJS is the one that won their fight, is still undefeated and has a world title.
Eubanks profile is greater and had a GGG fight in his grasp, if he wanted it.
Because Eubank dominated the second half of their fight.
It was all Eubank and you got the feeling he was the boss.
The bookies make him a big favourite if they have a rematch. Saunders will have his fans but those odds tell you that it's generally thought that Eubank would win. The bookies don't give away money.

If you booked early then you could get it for just under £10. Once you strip VAT out as well they'll be looking at c.£750k.BigDoofus wrote:Just over £1m.tobyh5 wrote:I heard 86k being talked about.

Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
Usually the live gate is supposed to pay for the venue and all the undercard fighters. On PPV bills , the promoter gets a fixed rate plus a bonus for a certain amount of buys, and the TV company get the rest.
The venue had a 3500 capacity but I don't know how many were there. If the live gate doesn't meet the costs then the top up comes from the PPV figure.
I would strongly suspect that everybody got what they expected, but not any more than that.
Nobody will have lost anything, everyone got a wage, but nobody got rich.
I don't believe the executives at ITV are thick. They'll realise Quinlan was second division at best. The real test is with the next promotion.
Do they take a huge risk and offer Saunders/golovkin etc enough and hope the PPV succeeds or do they go down the Audley Harrison route. I predict the latter.

I think they might test the waters with a string of relatively weak opposition to hold the attraction of their star man.dalcumly wrote:Usually the live gate is supposed to pay for the venue and all the undercard fighters. They could go for the big cash out fight and take the risk of him losing and take the money hoping the high profile fight attracts more fighters to fight on the platform or they could line up 3 or 4 second rate 'title defences' and hope the exposure they are giving him and getting through social media starts to build something without taking serious risks with the the product.
I honestly think between the Eubank name and the controversial way they behave they will believe they are on to a winner and take the long term approach.
Of course the names GGG, BJS and James Degale will be used at any opportunity to boost the anticipation that they might actually come through on the big fights.
But is that any different to the way Hearns and Warr3n fighters behave?
It's shite patter, but I see no reason why they'll do things any different
Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
Over 300k buys.. From what I'm hearing from a few people close to the promoter they have shocked themselves.. I missed it because my bro was boxing in Belfast.. The whole show will be on one of the ITV channels in the next week

Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
I've not seen any tweets or talk from snr or jnr about how many they have sold so i'm guessing that it's not been the success they were hoping for. I'm sure they would have been telling us straight away if it was a huge success
Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
To be fair Hearn talked about Golovkin for ages when he was trying to get that fight for Eubank, but from the point of it presumably being believable considering he delivered the fight for Brook.davie wrote:Of course the names GGG, BJS and James Degale will be used at any opportunity to boost the anticipation that they might actually come through on the big fights.

He has talked for a while about slowly building Joshua up before delivering a big name, and in fairness he's delivered Wlad in front of 90,000. It's clearly absolutely massive. Makabu was probably one of the biggest names at 200 for Bellew. People wanted Quigg Frampton - it happened, likewise unification for DeGale, a Froch Groves rematch and so on. If he fails to deliver Brook v Khan so be it; you can't win 'em all.
Either way it seems a long way from the days of Calzaghe dealing with his opponents without issue, Warren mentioning Hopkins and Johnson after every single fight, and then announcing someone like Kabery Salem. I think the public in general have moved on from being happy to just watch an endless stream of mismatches.

ITV PPV will work if they can get the kind of opposition they are talking about.
I suspect there are more people talking about Eubank Jr now than Saunders.

Lol get the popcorn out lads. allegedly's summoned the IFL lads for an interview.
Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
i paid for it and was really pleased - good value for money. started at 7 finished at around 12, decent fights, decent fighters. very well produced and quinlan was a good opponent, it was an excellent scrap.

I wonder how much Ward and Lewis cost for their work?

I wasn't gonna buy but Id been out for a few drinks during the day and came home half cut and caved and ended up buying it and ive gotta say I thought the card was gash, some good match ups but they just didn't gel as well as I thought they would
Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
Ryder v Etches and Price v hammer were very good fights with plenty of twists and turns, Eubank v quinlan was better than expected considering he was unknown...certainly no Jeter.
I watched it with my boys and the 7 yr old asked if we could watch when kid galahad fights for a world title, the lad was impressed and that's the future of boxing not a bunch of jaded cockends on a forum criticising every fight , and every performance and every attempt to keep the sport alive

Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
I love the notion that Quinlan Eubank was 'better than expected' purely on the basis that Quinlan wasn't just immediately destroyed. The fact he lost every round surely says something.
Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
I only wished ITV advertised / hyped their terrestial shows (of the last 10 years) in the same way. I'm not even sure if Calzaghe vs Lacy unification bout made ITN news.... certainly Frampton's world title fights (shown on ITV) did not.
ITN were hyping up the Eubank world title fight all day on Saturday.

Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
all the fights on sky are behind a 60 quid a month (or whatever their subs are) paywall!
i dont pay for that, so a tenner was a good deal for me. this is the way its going, no one wants to be tied down to a contract any more, paying over the odds for sport. so 10 quid for a saturday night fight card is good going in my book.
id be interested how many people watched eubank compared to how many watched lomachenko v walters on BN or some other top level fight. my wild guess is that eubank pulled much bigger numbers.

They don't know the exact figures yet but early indications were 300k plus.. It's someone involved with the promoter.. Also a big offer going to Degale this week for April/MayBoxerbeetle wrote:Where did you hear that figure? That's more than triple the number that I've heard.daviddee wrote:Over 300k buys.. If that's true that's an incredible figure. Twice as many people paid to watch ward talk about Eubank as they did for him to fight kovalev

People don't pay £60 a month to sky to watch boxing, they pay to have access to live sport, of which boxing is included.veriton wrote:all the fights on sky are behind a 60 quid a month (or whatever their subs are) paywall!

That's hardly a valid comparison as Lomachenko isn't fighting at a reasonable hour is he and he's not a British fighter. Why not compare him to Anthony Joshua who is a British fighter boxing on ppv?

I don't believe that for one minute. Happy to be proved wrong though. Re: PPV figures for the Eubank fight
It's not the PPV sales that should be the focus of people's minds as that is a red herring..
... it's the amount of refunds they had to offer back as those whom ordered it via Sky platform only got a blue screen until the first bell of the main event rang.
I forecast it would go tits up (just like Primetime did) and sure enough it did.
As Roger Mayweather once said "ITV don't know sh*t about pay per view".
